Happy saturday mornin'all. Sherm, the truck's a good idea. we live facing the north bald prairie. When Dawn wrote off the Explorer, we went to an Edge. It's the best off both world's. She likes it, but wants a truck, so I may try to sell my POS Montana, and get her a F150 4X4. I will drive the Edge. I love that car, roomy, powerfull, and decent on gas. Have a great day guy's.
Scary sight in that video Ger. I'm always paranoid of road approaches. I slow down when I see a vehicle at them. Two guys here lost their lives a couple summers ago in separate accidents in the exact situation. They were on motorcycles and people pulled out unto the highway without seeing them. Sad situations.
The drive to Regina is about 2 hrs... Its only 180 kms or so, so could be done in less, has been done in less in the summer. The highway conditions are pretty good right now. Its not road conditions that scare me. Its inattentive people. We can adjust our driving to suit conditions, we cannot fix the stupidity of others.
I'm done with winter. Not even getting an itch to sled. Probably dump a little fresh fuel in it this weekend and fog it for storage. It was a pooper season this year.
Hoping to hear from our Ford dealer tomorrow. They have a nice 2010 F150 FX4 there that my wife really likes. It would be better suited to the rural living than the Fusion, while the Fusion gets pretty good mileage, we've only put 16k on it in 2 years, so the economy isn't a huge concern. When we head on the highway as a family we usually take the truck for comfort and safety anyway, so it nearly makes sense Wife's away this weekend, I'd like to surprise her if they spin the right deal...
In other news, marked out my next project today. A 100 x 60 x 16 pole building. 3 overhead doors, 6 man doors, 3 windows. Metal clad on the outside and inside ceiling. Should be a decent project.
Anyone else got stuff brewing? Hows your summer construction season looking Curtis?
That would be one hell of a surprise Sherwin. Good luck with the deal. How tall is your building going to be?

In the 4 months we've lived on this acreage I've come across 3 multi vehicle accidents, and various ditched vehicles. Every time I see them I cringe at the thought of my family in a small car if something were to happen.
My wife and one of her friends went to the city for a trade show this weekend. They took my F350
There has been a few times where we had too much snow on the ground for my girlfriends car to go though so she has taken my truck to work. Now I'm not a big fan of starting my truck for a 30 second drive but I'd rather that then have to start it because her car is stuck and I have to go get her.

Very nice, white is right! This is pretty much a twin to my 2012 FX4.
I prefer a Super Cab with a 6.5 rather than a Super Crew with a 5.5 box.
My F150 was a Super Crew with the 5.5' box. I loved the room in the crew cab but I hated how little that box was... After I put 35" tall tires on the truck, carrying around a 35" tall spare in the box didn't leave much room for anything else.

Do it Grant! That'll be a huge upgrade lol. F150s are good trucks, I miss mine from time to time. Then I fire up my diesel and mash the skinny peddle and forget all about my f150 haha.

Morning boys!!
Saw this on the news awhile back. If you pause the vid, take a wild guess what the guy is talking on and why he didn't even see it coming.......
Scary stuff!! Driver picked a good spot to hit him in IMO. Drivers door would have been deadly, trailer coulda/woulda flipped the poor guy just cruisin along.
Another Beautifull sunny day here in MB, think i'm going to waddle my butt into the wifes shuffly buggy and wonder to the "World of Wheels". Buddy of mine built a staduim/baja truck that I want to see live!!

It's not my building, its for a builder. Walls are 16', probably be 22-24' to the peak. I haven't measured the trusses but they're 4/12, 30' to center... Do the math I'm vegetating.
I had two F150's, crew/6.5 box. They were both awesome trucks. I had a 2002 F150 Supercrew with the micro box and found it useless. Nice riding truck though, last 2wd I owned...

Sorry I missed your post.
Great idea on the truck, Sherm. GO FOR IT!!!!
Phone's starting to ring now as it does everyseason once the warm air starts hitting. Have 3 customers that have held off and waited for me since Dec last year and even willing to wait since my injury. Healing really good right now so i'm thinking i'll be back at it, lightly, within a couple weeks. So with everyone holding off the plus for the customers is I have material lists made for 3 jobs, another confirmed unquoted job and a quote to do with new customer and i've explained i'll round up deposits just before contractor day at Home Depot and order all windows, doors, garage doors, paint, drywall ect ect ect and save them all 5%. Win win for me, being blessed with understanding people, and reward them with an additional 5% off the bill at the end of the day!!
Love what I do, really like getting to know the new customers and 99% of the time our family's end up staying in touch after completion. I'm very lucky that way!!
Hi folks, good news, I think that I finally found a guy with an enclosed car trailer to bring my XL home Monday!

I actually prefer the crew cab 6.5 box, but my wife claims to find it a bit cumbersome for every day driving. Here's hoping my F350 returns from Regina unscathed...
Morris they have a 2011 XTR there pretty much identical to your 2012. They want a little more for it, though it has less kms, I think I'm aiming for this FX4. Its leathered up with heat and all that jazz. Time will tell...
I think your wife is right, I find my Super Cab is just right.

Wow, I hope to never see any accidents first hand.

Yes, bottom line, always drive like you are invisible. When you are on two wheels, you are!
We have a few driver's, including my brother that have dash cam's. I also paused the vid, and it looks to me the driver at fault was on a cell phone. I see people still on they're cell phones while driving, and it's clear they're not really paying attention to what they're doing. If you read some of the vid comment, some people are blaming the tractor driver for not slowing down when he saw the truck approaching the intersection. There's a good chance he could of had a GVW of 100,000lbs. Probably not, cause he would have came to a stop a 1/2 mile away. By the looks of the frt hood he may have been driving a lighter class vehicle. None the less, I always watch approaching vehicle's coming off a side road to make sure they stop. Drive safe all.
I also didn't see any airbag's deploy.
Morning Boys and Girls. Its spring Sunday. Supposed to warm up to +4 this afternoon. Nice temps all week.
Didn't hear from the dealer yesterday so probably bother them tomorrow. My wife and friend made it back from Regina. The diesel is awesome on fuel. The round trip would have been in excess of 400 kms, the truck is showing over 200 kms to empty still. Wife says...do you get a lot of Ram diesels wanting to race you? I say no...did u smoke them? She says...no, didn't want to wreck your truck. I say thank-you but you should have smoked 'em...Ram boys don't like getting beat by girls in Fords...
Its my parents 33rd anniversary today. That's quite awesome. They married young, they're still in their early 50's. They've been through a lot together with my Dad's health issues. He's had crohns disease for nearly 30 years, a gazillion surgeries and a colostomy to boot. We had the pleasure of him being at home for our childhood, pretty backwards to most situations where the mom is at home as the child raiser. It would have been better if it had been by choice more than health reasons but we made the most of it. My mother is a nurse, so her salary was able to keep us provided for, and now with the largest mouth to feed out of the house, I think they're doing quite well I raise my glass to my parents.
