We're more than a little frosty here Chris, another prairie winter is here. -31°C/-23 F by Sat evening.
That Grey Cup win was a big surprise to us Sask folks too, it was totally awesome....about time we showed the East they can`t always win!
Happy Hump day mornin'all. I had a hell of a drive to work this morning. The North bypass was very icy, I took the service road (gravel) and was moving faster than the vehicles on the highway. I have a 5 minute highway drive to work, and really hate it in this weather. 4 in the ditch on the way here, and people are driving like idiot's. I'm really leaning on taking my sled to work on these kinda day's, but the ditches around here are littered with vehicles, part's and numerous other pieces of junk. Have a great day, and stay safe and warm.
Good morning folks, no freezing rain here Gerry since it`s way too cold for that!
How much snow did you get in the last few days Sherm?

Evening boys
Was out and about today. Stopped in at mother-in-laws and shoveled. Hwy 59 still good. Snow covered in passing lane. STopped in at Red River Yamaha with hotchocolates for Brian and the girls.
I gotta say.....In this weather, driving a big capeable beast like mine of exceeding the speed of everyone else with no problem I DONT. I very rarely pass in the snow covered lane so not to blind the guy/gal i'm passing. Today, after leaving Yamaha, I followed a lady driving a small car. She was driving in the center of the road. Very snow covered by then. Doing 50-60 tops. No way to pass. Then that reminded me of the call I got from my wife last week. She had to pull over as she was being passed and blinded by snow. She called me and wasn't sure if she could continue. Stressed right out.
Your all probably wondering what i'm blabbing about and whats the moral of this post.
She rolled he car on mile rd 82 Easter Day of this year. Last big snow fall of the 2012 winter season. Hit a drift slid left, and right and all over but maintained control until her car came to a stop on the shoulder. Unfortunately, a couple days before that, the municipality dug the ditches out for the spring thaw. That particular ditch is about 8 feet deep. Ditches were dug out about 6' wide. Her car is 6' wide (ish) Well to make a long story short, her car broke off the snowbank from the plow, slid down and landed on its roof. No way to get out, she busted out the back window. I thank the big guy above it wasn't a couple days later because that being a main drain, it would have been full of water and the results could have been much much worse.
So I remind myself all the time not to pass, just go with the flow. Maybe that slowpoke in front of me is a mother/father/newdriver who's struggling with getting their mojo back winter driving from a very bad experience.
I tell this story to you guys today, as she got home from her drive today and her shoulders were beside her ears. Stressed right out. 0 tickets, 0 accidents prrior to the roll over. She's been driving for 24 years.
Needless to say, I'll be driving her to work tomorrow. Not because she's a wimp, or a bad driver, because i'll do whatever it takes to help her get back up to speed with her winter driving and MOSTLY because she's here with me today!!
Sorry for the long story, just thought i'd share in hope's it would remind someone who reads this that maybe that slow poke in front of you has some valid struggles with winter driving. Be patient folks, we'll all arrive in one piece.
Looks like some weather has hit us and will continue over the next couple days. So be safe out there!!!
