I have for ya, My neighbors wife left some plastic in her oven. When she turned it on, black smoke just bellowed out of the oven. She called her Husband home from their daughters dance class.
He imediately ran to my house and was trying to get my then 3 year old son to open the door, the door was locked, my dog was just freaking out. I ran upstairs and my neighbor starts yelling " i need a fire extingisher". I told him it was in the garage. I ran out to my garage, he ran to the fence, my fence wa locked, he jumped it, my dog caught his rear in mid air.
I got him the fire extingisher, he ran back to his houe. By then the other neighbor went in the house and pulled the plastic out of the oven and ut it in the yard.
2 weeks later i needed help with a mattress, I asked if my neighbor would help me carry it, he came over, as we were unloading the mattres he says " remember the day of the fire" I said yeah, and chuckled, he says" your dog bit me when I Came over the fence" I was like, holly s^&t, are you allright. he say" yeah, but I went tot he hospital to get a shot. I was like, damn, do I owe you anything, are you all right, what was the shot for, did you need the dogs papers. He say no, its all right..
what he failed to tell me, as soon as a dog bite happens, the police are involved, for several weeks they had been trying to get ahold of him to get my address so they could do an investigation, when they finally got ahold of him, they issued my wife and I a ticket, and a order to quartine the dog for 36 hours...I was livid that he knew the police were involved and never lets us know. WHen I finally seen him, I went off, I couldnt believe that this all happend and he didnt share any of it with me. To me, the police coming, al of that was fine, part of being a dog owner, but him not telling me, hell, I kept expecting a lawsuit next.
Whats crazy about it, he shared with the neighbors all about it. They came over the next morning and asked what I was yelling at "him" about, I shared what happend. The neighbor replied that the police had been trying to make contact with "him" since the bite, but he was refusing to answer the phone, or the door. thinking that eventually they would go away.
When I made contact with the police, the woman I had to deal with kept saying what I pain in the **** it was for her to get any info from "him" because he told her it was completely his fault, and that the dog was not to blame..He was, I guess, trying to do the right thing by keeping me in the dark?
But, because he too has kids, and his kids share friend's with my boy, most kids are not allowed in my back yard anymore because my dog bites...
OK, Pat. I see what happened. He was trying to keep you out of it. Not so bad now that I know the rest of the story. lol
But it seams like they could not do anything unless he pressed charges. But I guess a dog bite is different, kind of like a gun shot.
Yeah, when I lit him up, I was shocked that here came the police, and not a word from him, but when the neighbors came over, explained all that they knew about it, well, then I was feeling pretty guilty..
I mean, hell, i felt pretty much betrayed by a neighbor, whom for the most part had full acess to my garage/tools/and any knowledge I had to shared.
I pretty sure though that he felt the same after the confirtation, i mean, hell, hes trying everything he could to protect me from the police, and then to be yelled at by the one he was trying to protect..its shame, apologies went both ways, we claimed we understood, but that relationship isnt really the same anymore..
As far as the cops going after your dog: Doesn't it make a difference that he jumped into the back yard? As far as the dog knows, he doesn't belong there. Poor dog was just doing his job.
I understand a rampant dog prowling the street biting unsuspecting pedestrians, but a dog bites some guy who jumps into his back yard, and they quarantine your dog? WTF?

Truthfully Lisa, it wasnt for the fact he was trying to come through the front door, and wasnt able to, I dont think the dog would have been that worked up when he jumped the fence. Just a stacking of events, when the stack got to high, it went to *****

Dang Pat. That whole scenario is really messed up, especially now that there is a "weirdness" between you and your neighbor. It's never a good thing to feel uncomfortable at home.
Just goes to show - you can be minding your own business, and still get in the ****, even when you did nothing wrong.
I've only seen one member on here with a red box and I was surprised by it. I'm sure there are plenty with negative reps outside the 7.3 forum, but I never leave the 7.3 forum so I am ignorant to it.
Oh well! Chris has it right. If you have a problem with someone, say something to them about it instead of just being passive aggressive about it.
You don't know what you're missing. Unless you have heart problems, or lose your temper easily. If that's so you're better off not drifting out into that scary section of FTE.

Some folks have painted themselves into a corner and it's going to end very soon.

Thanx for that info Scott, but to tell you the truth I do not even remember his name. Maybe he grew up in a hurry that day.
That's a bit ridiculous. I mean about the police getting involved at all. The dog was in his own backyard!!! It was accidental, wasn't a mauling, and the neighbor understood why it happened. My dad is 78 and when he was a kid, he had a dog that he'd see riding in other peoples' cars, and even on the back of a motorcycle!! The dogs were let to run loose, and this was downtown Baltimore city. Aggressive dogs were not tolerated/allowed to run free, but otherwise there weren't any real problems. Society today is ruled by whiners and those who won't take responsibility it seems. Sad...
