Now I am very much against harming animals: ie beating, starving, mistreating..and all that...but processing livestock..comon!

I had an ex roommate who, one night, wanted to look at some of my pictures on my computer. My brother and I go hunting every year, so of course there were pictures of dead deer and elk on there, usually of smiling faces after the kill, or during the meat processing party. She quaffed "that's so mean". I said "Whats mean?" and she looked at me and said "You killed that innocent little animal!". I just sort of looked at her and said "Do you have any idea where steak comes from, or chicken, or that cheeseburger you just ate". I got this response that was sort of like "I don't care, at least I am not the one that killed it". Arrg!

Anyways! I always got stories!
i hate those people i am a farmboy but i dont harm animals with an exception to get them moving. if you have ever tried to move cattle you would know what a PITA it is but it has to get done. we usually try to move animals with the least amount of harm (slapping)but at times it has escalated to other things. yes we do have a cow taser BUT WE HARDLY USE IT!!! it is a last resort to get a cow up so we can milk her or move her to grass so she has a nice soft surface to get up on. with heifers we use a little more violence to move them (NOT MUCH MORE). milk cows and pregnant cows we try to use the LEAST amount of violence to move if you stress the cows alot you lose milk production and the quality of milk drops. so we get more money if we pamper the cows if you have ANY questions on dairy farms ask me i know enough to answer most questions. sorry for the long post

Um sure, can I come live on your farm? lol. I'm getting really tired of the city.

Surprise surprise, i have a story that relates to this subject...you might find it funny. A few weeks ago when I was on vacation, we were up in the Colorado mountains campin, decided to make a beer run into town. On the way back, we ran into a couple ranchers trying to push a big group of cattle up the pass, very narrow road and very steep. I came along in my brother's 5.9 Cummins (my truck was saddled down with a truck tent). Anyway, this old cowboy slides up beside me and tells me to just push them cows outta the way, and they'll move. Well I pushed them, all the way up the damn mountain. I pushed my way through the majority of the herd but there were a few stubbon gals that refused to get out of the way, so I gently pushed them with the push bars on the front (that we call a cow catcher, Hah!). We finally got through the lot of them but it took me a while, probly 100 head or more.

Prolly saved those cowboys quite a bit of work.

Yeah, but have they the French Bulls on call? What am I doing on this subject? Everything I know about dairy farming would fit in a gnats eyeball and roll around like a BB in a boxcar.

I think a large slingshot is in order.

Seriously though, I'd be calling these "friends" and explaining that their dog is making your house unsanitary, especially since you have children that will be crawling around most likely, and that you expect them to have the areas cleaned properly/professionally (if need be)

My dog has his issues (hates Huskies, doesn't like to poop while on-leash,etc) but the people I trust to watch him are told about these things up front and it's never been a problem

Still, if you slingshot the little bastridge, ya GOTTA get a video of it... TWWAANNNGGG!!!! ..... YAAARRRPPPP YAAARRRP yaaarrrpp yaaarrpp yaaarrpp

Cris, next time the little pisser goes out the dog door, put something in front of it so he can't come back in. Leave the pisser out side.

EDIT: Ok guys, 1 more page and Scott will close this thread and start another. If he is back from vacation.
