The only way that I can think of now in order to get a new xcal 2 would be if you happen to have found somebody that is trying to clear out their supply to make room for the new stuff now.
Thanks Matt, I'm glad to see things are straightened out now. I was on vacation and just got back so I just saw the archive. I saved all the tunes except the Ultra Comp and will be playing with them.
Hey, I don't know if you got the word passed on to you, but as far as getting a 18 volt source for the new unit I had two ideas. First, if it does not draw too much power would it work by using a couple of 9v transistor radio batteries? Second, if you could tie in an adaptor for using the 18 volt battery from a drill driver (I have Ryobi but there are many others) that should have enough juice to do it and adaptors should be fairly easy to do.
Thanks once again for the archived tunes, my faith and patience has been validated and rewarded.
sooo uuhhhh can someone enlighten me on which tunes are safe for a non studded motor? there are so many damn tunes my head is spinning...haha
Most of his street tunes on down(tow, stock + etc) are going to be safe for a non-stud engine. When you start getting to the race files(particularly ultra comp) is when you start getting into the need for studs just to make sure. Now depending on how you play with the hybrid race, you could be alright. For sure, agg. street economy on down in power, you should be alright.
The Hybrid has very low cylinder pressures in light of the neck-snapping power that it produces. If the question was "what POWERFUL tune is SAFEST for my 6.0", I say the Hybrid is the best bet. It's "safer" than the ASE.

Yes and no(actually the no applies to all tunes, but I think it's more probable to happen with the higher hp tunes then lower ones). Yes it does have lower cylinder pressure, but you have to remember with the higher hp tunes your likelyhood of ragging on it before your truck gets to operating temp. also increases your odds of lifting heads. Now that applies even to a stock truck with no tuning depending on installation of the heads and some other factors, but I think that it's more then likely to happen with a higher hp over stock tune then it would be for tow tune, economy, street economy etc. the only tune that would rival the hybrid race and ultra comp tune for frequent ragging would be the aggressive street economy I believe(which leads to furthering this debate I'm sure).

I think you are playing with fire on anything more than 70 or so HP. The consequences of a big $$$ failure are not worth runninng an extra 5% increase in power with the high power tunes.
Loaded the Ultra Comp file last night and went to the track for amature night. Wow!Lots more power than the Hybrid race tune. My best time in the 1/8 mile was 8.91@ 75.51mph. Very impressed. This was my first time to the track in 25 years. I felt like a kid again. There were only three other trucks there 2 Dmax's and one Cummins and they didn't do very well. The best was one Dmax with a 9.60. Thanks to Matt for putting the files on the web site. Otherwise I dont think I would have tried the Ultra Comp file. So it's back to ASE and Agressive tow for me, but I thik I will leave the Ultra Comp in the third spot on my X3 just in case.
