Very smooth and clean sounding engine!
What song's that you're listening to?
Thanks a bunch Justin! You know that bogging problem I'm always complaining about? You can hear my truck bog down when I take that left at the intersection.
That song was from Matt Kearny, I'm not sure the name of it. He sings one of my favorite songs, "Bullet". I tried to put Bullet on but once I was driving I wasn't about to fiddle with the radio AND camcorder!
This isn't from a truck, but I found an awesome sound from a 200cid six, split header, no X or H pipe, with flowmasters. Now granted this is on the small block Falcon six, but after hearing this sound, I'm excited to say I think I want a 250cid six in my Torino. Those of you with Rancheros, Falcons, Fairlanes, whatever, take note. These split headers really make a difference. I bet a 240/300 with the same exhaust mods would sound similar.
As mentioned earlier, pipe size really does have affect on the sound of the 300...this setup is simillar to what you describe, dual 3" through flowmasters...this is on col flashmans engine/truck (do a search), its a nicely modified carb engine.
took my rusted out muffler with rusted out tailpipe last night. replaced the muffler with a straight-pipe and tailpipe at the factory location. sounds quieter than the factory muffler (had more holes than a spaghetti strainer) but louder outside... which is almost the perfect scenario. is very deep sounding when idling in gear, or loading it up at low speeds, gets raspy if i get oevr around 3k on the tach, sounds good overall in my opinion. ill get a soud clip up sometime in the near future.
the truck has factory resonator, manifolds (EFI), and cat. Lovin this truck.. the sound reminds me of the 86 i had some years ago.
I got a tach for it out of the JY but forgot the printed circuit board. So, at the moment, I have no clue on the RPMs. It also may be idling high due to the choke warmup (idles at 1600 vs 650 when cold).
And yeah, it's really loud. Headers into two dinky strapped on mufflers, and that's it. REAL backyard work. Lol.
Holy crap dude I love your truck! Power steering, manual brakes, all sorts of different body panels, wood inlay in the tailgate, wraparound rear bumper (that custom?), you've got a frankenstein dentside and I dig it I have three dents myself but now I want yours.
It's a Bump, not a Dent. The truck titles as a 67, which is still the cab & frame. The maroon & white are from a 72 Ranger XLT F250. I dont have the power steering box yet, I just mounted the pump from a van while I was putting the cam in. I couldnt even guess where the bumper cam from. I have some disc spindles for it, but gonna hold out until I get a hydrobooost. It's rollin 11" drums on all 4, yet I drive it 6 days a week. I can always find it in a parking lot!
