Our trucks sound a LOT alike. I can't believe you have a turbo muffler, it sounds baffled like a Flowmaster. What size muffler are you running? Your truck does sound really good though, very mean and very respectable. I appreciate the sound clips, I've been wanting to hear your truck for a long time since I heard that one you put up a year or two ago.
I'm blown away by how close our trucks sound like. The only difference between the two is mine has a deep "pop pop pop" coming off a rev. I think it's the unburnt fuel, right? I do like it though, lol. I'm almost tempted to get a sound clip of my truck just to show you how close they sound like.
Okay Harte, now it's time to get the lil' lady to hold your camera while you go WOT from a dead stop. =D
Okay guys, I finally took a GOOD sound clip.. if youtube ever loads it, I'll post it here. Anyone mind telling me how to instal a youtube video on a post?
Harte, when I upload the video I want to know what you think.
I like it! The duals add a bit of "definition" to the overall tone.
The alleged "turbo" muffler I have was an eBay find...bought two of them for total of $20 figuring on going with duals but changed my mind and just went single out.

Hey Harte, thanks a lot! I still think our trucks sound a lot alike. It goes to show not all glass packs / turbo mufflers sound the same. The beauty of it all is how these motors sound under load or at WOT reguardless of the exhaust system. They will turn heads when V8's wont; V8's are just too common.
You did the right thing going with a single pipe. I have seen it said on FTE that true duals sound like garbadge on a six banger. I heard a passing 300 the other day that sounded horrific. A little bit of research would have saved the driver some money and heartache. You can make the 300 sound as good or as bad as you want but a good rule of thumb is glasspack style mufflers that are semi-quiet. You can't go wrong. The trick with baffled mufflers (like flowmaster) is to start shooting kitties.
If I would do it again, I would run a single-pipe 3'' system with a turbo muffler and diesel tip.
You know I think Clifford or any performance company would really make a lot of money if they made mufflers that make 4, and 6 cylinders sound great(more like a V8), at all RPM. I am surprised Clifford hasn't yet, with their slogan being 6=8, well they should make a muffler(or complete exhaust) that makes 6=8 in the sound department. I wouldn't want it to sound exactly the same as a V8, but still good, kinda like a V-10 sound or something.
Did a mod delete my new exhaust post? Anyway here's my new setup again. YouTube - NEW HiFlow Cat/Flowmaster Super 40
I like it now. I still get that annoying droning noise at higher rpms. I want to add extra pipe if I ever get the time. I think by simply redirecting the noise farther away from the muffler exit it will kill some of that droning noise.
Maybe 1.5' of straight 2.25 pipe. I know the turndown kills the droning noise but also makes it quieter. I'm thinking maybe because of the bend...??? I don't know.
Any suggestions on how to kill that droning noise without hurting sound quality would be much appreciated!
Well not sure this will help but I had to readjust my carb because my drone (bad drone!)came at idle. Also I found that the bend out of the manifold was sharp and I was useing smaller pipe. I took it back and had them upsize to my H pipe and make a nice long radius out of the manifold. Mine dump behind the rear tires and the cab is quiet now but nice meaty exhaust sound outside the cab. At highway speeds I can't hear exhaust but I hear the engine in a nice low rumble FE's are known for.
It's worth the time and money to get it the way you like it.
I have a V8 but I just like the sound of them 6's.
hey what should i run? RIght now the muffler is cut off. thanks to the guy who owned it before me. THanks.. I have had one with a flowmaster 60 series, and it was super quite. I have had one with a glasspack and it was super quite too. any thoughts? thanks
