Yes you should be able to put you will have to do some wiring. If you have no heat no power glass or blinker and you want that you will have to wire it in for all that. Could be a pain I would imagine. I hear they do make manual tow mirrors with no blinkers no heated glass and no power but when I read that it was posted a year ago and they were more then the power ones. You could check into that if you dont wana hook all that up.
If you get me an email address I can send you a break down of the connector and what all the wires are for.
I just bought the 7L3Z-17682-AE AND 7L3Z-17683-AE mirrors from Tasca Auto Group. Would you please send me the wiring information for a 05 XLT extended cab
My Dad has a 2004 F250 V10 Super Duty. I have been given the unfortunate honor of putting new mirrors on it. They have no puddle light and they retract manually. They do have the power adjust, heat/defrost, & turn signal. The truck did have power adjust mirrors from the factory and we are adding the turn signal & heat. The wires are there for both the heat & signal. I gather from the 8 pages that I will have to change the heater control head, change the fuse block on the passenger side kick panel (or glove box?) and add a relay of some sort. Which heater control w/rear defrost button do I need: 7L3Z-19980-D or 6L3Z-19980-CA?
There appears to be some confusion generated because I believe there is a difference between the F150 & the F250 Super Duty? Can some someone explain the difference between the mirrors and give some part numbers for both types? I do apologize for my lack of knowledge about Ford trucks ...that is why I am here!
C521 Connector replacement pins<!-- google_ad_section_end -->
<HR style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #ffffff; COLOR: #ffffff" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --><!-- google_ad_section_start -->Does anyone know where to buy the replacement pins? The Ford parts guys in my area have no idea where to get them.
How easy is it to move a pin in the connector? Can anyone tell me how it is done?
Ah, I knew someone would ask what the part number for the pins are! I will try to find out. I got the pins from a Lincoln dealer and I just happen to get real lucky. As for moving the pins, I remember taking the a red holder clip thing out and then taking a paper clip and pushing the tab down on the pin. When the tab is pushed down, the pin slide out pretty easy. I will have to get back to you with the part number for the pins. Thanks, Shimaze
I bought a set of 7L3Z-17682-AE AND 7L3Z-17683-AE mirrors from Tasca Auto. I had them on my 2005 XLT SC for 10 days then I got a deal on a larger trailer and had to get a F-250 so I pulled the mirrors back off. They are for sale for $220.00 plus shipping from Wisconsin. Save yourself $50.00. Mirrors are like brand new and will ship in original boxes and packing. Email me at degrub@frontiernet.net
Just thought I'd let everyone know I did the ole tow mirror swap today. Took off the stock mirrors, swapped pin 2 to pin 8 on each connector, and added a new pin on pin 11 for the lights. Then proceeded to remove the kick panels and routed wire to the main connector under the driver side kick panel, and tapped into a black/light blue wire for the interior dome light circuit.
Also upgraged my old burnt out factory tweeters to some new sony ones in the drivers door. Sounds pretty good I must say.
But man, it is weird driving with these mirrors. I dont know where to look, its like there is too much going on. I guess it will take some time. Otherwise they look and work great.
Needless to say I will be putting my old mirrors on Ebay soon, so if anyone is interested they are power/heated/turn signal and work great. PM me or just ask me here and i'll put a link up to the Ebay ad when I post them. Thanks!
These mirrors worked great for me, and i'll always be willing to help fellow FTE'rs with any questions regarding the installation of these things. Take care everyone!
