It should have been a newer truck with A/C and EFI, and the larger cab. Mine is a 95, is carbeurated, and does not have A/C, and has the smaller cab. I paid $4300 for it.

We allow our obsession with what other people are doing with their money and how they are earning it interfere with effecting real and meaningful policy and tax changes that would do wonders to our economy. So long as you have a large voting base that can't stand that someone else dare make a profit and build wealth, we're going to continue to go down the same old road with the same old ineffective politicians.
Ding, ding, ding, Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a winner. Cut all incentives, be it welfare, farm subsudies, tax breaks, or whatever, level the playing field. Come up with a single tax code. Tax either goods or wages, not both. Next do away with the IRS. Do away with the social services agencys. Do away with unemployment benifits. Cut up Nafta and get out of the U.N. Take back all leases that are not owned and operated by U.S. companies. Cut all the congressmen salaries to $100,000, leave the Presidents at $200,000. Make them all get insurance through blue cross/ blue shield. (if its good enough for me, its plenty good enough for them) Next, no more government pensions. Social security is sufficient for all Americans, including elected officials. With all the money the government won't need, our taxes should be right around 6%. Give the military a pay increase, let em guard the border and our shores. Send back all the illegals. Business should have no problem finding people who want to work for a decent wage, and will have no competition from cheap labor 3rd world countries. Next allow the energy sector to build state of the art refineries and chemical plants. Promote alternative fuel research with all the money currently going to global warming studies. Without government welfare checks the farmers should have no problem figuring out how to grow something again. Use tax breaks or gaurenteed loans as a way to gain economic and energy independance, not worsen it.

Or those in the field burning 10-15 gallons an hour of diesel fuel. And not by choice. Only a matter of time before the price of food goes up. I heard some where that Corn Flakes went up by $0.20 a box

ETA

I could have had a good running 125CC motorcyle with road tags (albiet outdated) for $300. Would not take long to pay for it with the fuel savings. ? for the motorcyle experts on that. What kind of mileage could I expect out of something like that anyway?

Don't know what a 125 would get fuel mileage wise, but I can tell you that my stock, carbed (they get a little better than the FI) FLHX Street Glide gets right at 49 mpg highway (crusing around 60)

with a 125, I'd hazard a guess of 75 - 80MPG.

Check these out...

Street legality may be an issue.

Forgot to mention it is a 1450cc, and weighs in at 740lbs. Not bad for a pushrod/carbed 100 year old technology.

Funny thing is, alot of this was the platform Buchanon was running on. Boy if we had a do over, it certainly doesn't look that bad now?
