On a side note, if you own a pre 05 diesel, hold off on buying one as the DashHawk does not read a lot of the ford specific parameters w/ the current public software.
FastCote, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. I was out of town over the weekend and had limited access to a computer.
As fas as the profile/screen setups go, it's really going to be personal preference. I really haven't taken the time time to set up all 11 screens, cause for a while I was getting a new beta to test about once a week. I just made sure I had one screen with the items I really wanted to monitor on it. The screen I show 99% of the time has oil temp, coolant temp, trans temp, intake air temp, exhaust gas temp, and computer module volts. I can't even remember what the rest of my screens show.
If you really want my profile, send me a PM with your email address and I can send it.
One thing I would like to hear is if anyone has had the time to find good settings to make the background match the green color of the dash lights. If so post your percentages so the rest of us can try them out. (mine doesn't match that well right now, and I haven't taken the time lately to try)
Does anybody have a good “HowTo” on mounting the temperature probe for EGT? I assume it goes pre-turbo, but exactly where I have no clue. I don’t have a problem drilling and tapping (once) I just want to be sure to not screw up the location and position.
Also, BeerStalker, since you have aparently already done this, what will the interface to the DashHawk be? Will I have to run a discrete wire to the display or does it tie into the veicle?
If you are getting it from MSD as a beta tester they will send you the probe and a different cable for the Dashhawk. The EGT probe will plug into the new cable right at the OBD-II port.
As far as install instructions go you can find a lot of good info here by doing a search. Otherwise here is a page on Diesel Manor that shows it installed along with some instructions. http://www.dieselmanor.com/diy/PSD3-gauge/image24.htm
OK Beer, It's been a while. How is it working for you? Good monitoring of EGT's and Tranny Temp? Does it mpg etc.? General quality? Thanks in advance...Brian
Yeah, let's have a full run down. We were talking in another thread of mine and I'm very curious about your overall feelings and experiences so far. How are the temp sensors working? Still any bugs being worked out..so on-and-so-forth. You've got me interested in the unit now, but I know it's still knida in it's infancy and is being improved upon.
It is working pretty well. There have been a couple snags with the firmware on the unit lately but they seem to have them figured out now, and it has been working great in my truck for about the last week now with the newest beta software. They are still working on a few things, and will probably continue to try to add more features until people stop asking for them, or they run out of memory on the unit.
I've got a spreadsheet that I've filled out, that has all of the parameters that work on my truck, as well as readings when parked at idle, and at 2000 rpm. I'm going to try to figure out a way to post it here, other than typing it all out.
They do have instantaneous mpg and gph, but they aren't working quite right for diesel engines yet (they seem to work fine on gas engines). They are trying to figure it out, and they think it is probably just a math error in the code. My mpg readings seem to be about half of what I beleive to be true.

Hopefully this works. It is a .pdf of the spreadsheet I came up with. It is not 100% up to date, but it will give you a pretty good idea of what you can see.
Thanks for posting that spreadsheet and the PM for the vendor. Looks like a great unit. I really like the plug-n-play wiring vs. tapping wires in the engine compartment for the Quadzilla Commander.
My quest is to find out how much of the engine functions can be reported for the van PCM.
I am trying to get them to see if they can get fuel pressure working with the facotry sensors. If not, I have told them that a factory fuel pressure sensor to work with the Hawkeye add on would be a great idea.
Is that pyro reading range correct..0-1100? Why only to 1100? From my understanding you can run at 1200-1300 for periods of time and it's not uncommon to quickly get to these temps with many tunes and while towing. I'm looking into gauges for both of these reasons(tunes and towing) and want to be able to monitor exactly whats going on, not just that I'm to a certain point and then guess from there even though I'm still in the green so-to-speak. Just qurious and soaking up info like a sponge. Thanks
