Have you noticed the EGT's to be accurate? Any other comments on this unit after a few days of use?

Just received my Dashhawk but still waiting for the thermocouple for EGT. Loaded the software and latest firmware but I am not getting any enhanced Ford pids like tranny and oil temp, boost etc. Any help is appreciated. I just registered on the Dashhawk forum but cannot post yet.

otea090, you need to make sure to select the PIDs from the specific Ford section, not from the main PID sections.

Pstrang, no they do not have fuel pressure. I guess that there is no fuel pressure sensor on our engine (at least not one that reports over the CAN system), so they can't add it. I have talked to MSD about adding on seperate oil and fuel pressure sensors like the EGT add on. The guy in charge of the development for the Dashhawk says that they are working on an add-on that will allow either 4 or 8 add on sensors. They had an early design that worked great, but it was too expensive to manufacture. They have started working on a new cheaper version, but haven't got too far yet. I guess that the Dashhawk isn't selling as well as MSD wants it to, so now they are talking about cutting funding/people from the program. Not sure how it will work out yet.

If I'm doing it right the Dashhawk says "not supported by vehicle" +. I'm not sure what you mean by the Ford section but the ones I'm trying to select like tranny and oil temp have a (F) + next to them. I think the (F) is the Ford section since there are tons of (GM) right above these listings. The + is the symbol for not supported by vehicle and if I select it anyway I get an N/A reading. I have the latest v2.4 installed. Is there something else I need? Thanks for any help.

Are you trying to assign these PIDs to a screen in the computer software, or on the Dashhawk itself?

On the computer software go into the screen settings editor and start editing a screen. Scroll down to where it says "Ford Specific" and expand that. Then go down to "Sensors" and expand that. Select Deisel Eng. Oil Temp and Transmission Temp(Ford). For boost go to "Ford Specific", "Air", "MAPg (Boost/Vac gauge)".

On the Dashhawk itself you should be able to find them in the same area, it might just not spell out the whole label.

Beer, thanks for the help! Wish I could buy ya one. I got it set up on the computer just like you said. Just waiting for my exhaust probe for EGT and I'll be dialed in. Not looking forward to drilling my manifold but I bought new bits so hopefully I don't break one off. Anyway, thanks for all the info.

I was all stressed out about drilling my manifold also. Turned out it was one of the most trouble-free jobs I have done. Easy to drill, easy to tap. 20 minutes and done.

Ya, I hear it's a piece of cake too. Just one of those things you dread doing. If my probe would just show up I'd get it over with. Just got my tunes and really want to watch the temps when I tow over the mountains next week.

I was looking for gauges and digital readers when I ran across this thread. For those of you with the Dashhawk and the EGT function, are you still happy with it? Would you recommend this unit still?
I've seen several but this one seems to be the only unit yet to be able to read EGT and that was the hold up. Otherwise I will install separates and like many I don't want to lose the handle.
Thanks Clark
