The Gen 1 is the Edge version. Gen 2 is called the DashHawk. Colors are adjustable via Red Green Blue color sliders which are each controlled independently. Each color has a scale of 0-100. So you can set each color to a certain amount to make every color in the spectrum.
I haven't bought mine yet. Do I want the Gen 1 or the Gen 2 for the 06 350 PSD? I have seen both for sale (sometimes on the same site). What's the difference? thanks in advance. rc
The Gen 2 is the one with all of the R&D and Beta testing being done. There are three of us on this site that are doing diesel Beta testing. The Gen 2 will display the parameters specific to the diesel.
PM me and I will tell you where I bought mine...they were giving a $50 discount coupon usable on line.
You want the Gen 2, Gen 1 is the Edge version, (basically their Attitude monitor). If you order a DashHawk you will get a Gen 2. If you order an Edge Attitude you will get a Gen 1.
RIGGZ thanks. I have been "shopping the net" and found at least 1 site that carried the DASH HAWK Gen 1 and the DASH HAWK Gen 2 each with a separate price. When I saw the Gen 1 and Gen 2 appear above, I started to wonder.... I am the master of buying the Wrong Stuff. You are one of the MSD beta testers as well, right? Please keep us up to date. thanks rc
I used the link that Beerstalker was kind enough to provide and walked into Jegs (local in Columbus). They price matched it. I just had to have it ASAP. How is THIS for obsessive – I don’t even have the truck yet. HAHAH, I pick it up on Wednesday and just wanted to have my toys all lined up. Will be pinging Matt next for some tunes.
I agree with Riggz, if you use the 4 digital display the writing will be just as easy to read as the rest of your gauges. I'm currently running the 6 digital display and it is a little more difficult to read at a glance. I'll probably go back to 4.
With the Quadzilla commander you have to physically tap into the wires for the engine oil temp, coolant temp, and MAF. You also have to install a trans temp sensor.
With the Dashhawk all of that information is taken directly from the OBD-II port, so it is much easier to install.
You have to install a temp probe in the exhaust for either of them to read EGT. This probe and cable are not available to the public yet for the Dashhawk, but it should be soon.
The Quadzilla can be used to control inline fuel devices, the Dashhawk can't. The Quadzilla can give alerts and defuel the engine depending on the paramters, the Dashhawk only gives alerts (they may be able to defuel, but I am not sure, I will ask about this).
Personally I think the Dashhawk looks better, but the Commander does offer a slightly bigger screen.
