I believe you could order a hood ornament or have a dealer install one, regardless of trim level. My older brother ordered a new '79 Supercab with custom level interior and it had the hood ornament with the three lions on the hood. I own the pick up now, but it's not mobile due to a bad engine. I've got an engine for it now, just have other projects in front of it.

In 76 you could get the red 3 lions ornament, but this truck looks to have the explorer ornament which you could not get on a custom truck
yep rubberducky. thats the one i was talking about. clean looking truck at any rate. and the price has now gone down since the last time i saw it. where are you located at?
I am in Hays. Kind of more interested in a diesel I found else where but this spiked my attention as it closer and less money. If it had a box on it I would probably be more interested.

What would help is to find the knucklehead at Ford who concocted the dang thing and have him fess up!!!
Having owned many old Ford trucks, AND one of these, I am still curious,,, I still go with the GVW being a tad higher to buy time for it to meet emission standards,,,?
Different trucks= simular subjects. I used to own a early 80's full sized Bronco, that I bought from my cousins, who bought it new from a dealership in the earlt 80's. It was an 83, or 84, with a straight 6 engine. manual hubs, the AT went from P-N-R-3-2. the transfer case went 2HI-N-4HI. When I bought new drive line parts, the only ones that fit were from a E-150 van. Im not positive, but I dont think Ford made a 4X4 half ton van here, state side. I never asked where the parts came from, but they always had to order them.
I just acquired a 1976 F150 with a vin of F13MLC12407 It has a 460 in it that appears to be all original although vin decoder says 390 it has 8 lug wheels and factory AC with a GVWR of 6150lbs. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks and God bless.
Wow. I'm the one who originally posted this waaayyy back in 2006. Time flies. Been so long that I have long since forgotten my original FTE email, forget about password, and had to re-register. Happy to see this topic has entertained for so long, but a little disappointed that even after all this time we have no conclusive answer!
My 2014 update: I was originally asking the question on behalf of my dad, but 8 years later and the truck has now been passed down to me. Along with title etc,.. dad somehow had a piece of paper with the name of the original owner. No telling if they can still be found, but given the longevity of this thread I guess it's worth a shot. Will report back if I find anything....
