Thanks to all for doing all the writing about where to find the code. I first took the panel off under the steering wheel, but I could see it, so I then took off the trash bag hook in the middle and looked way up by the steering wheel and there was the code! Because I knew what I was looking for it was simple to see, even though the sticker was upside down. Thanks all!

 

I didn't have a problem finding my code on my 2001 F-150 XL/XLT 4X4. It is located above the emergency brake under the dash. You cannot miss it. It's a white tannish box labeled security. On it you will see the 5 digit code printed on a white sticker in black letters.

The problem I am having is I have followed all the direction to unlock the doors. I made sure I reset the lock to the factory code which it does by giving me the horn beep to acknowledge the correct code was entered. Now I can press the 6/7 and 8/9 to lock the door but when I enter my code it will not do anything and the doors will not unlock.

I am wondering if this is merely an electrical problem.

My question is this, If I was to invest in a Code Scanner would it list a code for this issue?

If anyone has dealt with this issue and can help me I would appreciate it, thanks in advance!

 

Wanted to thank everyone for there posts. After just buying a 2004 Ford excursion 6.0 last night I wanted to have code. The seller had no clue what it was and there is no way I was going to pay a dealer for it. I am new to the whole Diesel thing so I hope it goes well.

If you are talking about finding the codes via the 'cheat' sheet, at one point (I think starting on the 03) they made a limitation on how many keystrokes you could enter (30-35?) before the keypad would lock up. You had to wait a set amount of time (1-2 minutes?) before starting again, or you could cycle the ignition. If you are going to try that way, roll the window down and have someone inside so you can find the code easier.

 

Just located the code on my 2005 Excursion. Thank you to xTraveler, who gave great info. on his posting of 08/17/06! (1st page.) I used his 2nd option--removing the radio, as I already had the removal tools. This was extremely easy, and took me about 5-6 minutes. I never even left the driver's seat. I can't speak to how difficult it would be to climb under the dash, but for anyone 6'00, 200+ lbs. like me, I would highly recommend spending the money for the radio removal tools, and doing it that way. (I bought mine from Napa a few years ago, and I think they were only around $9.00 or so.)

The radio removal tools are simply a pair of U-shaped rods, much like a muffler clamp, that push straight into the radio holes. Once the tools "click" into the holes, apply slight outward pressure on them, and gently alternate pulling them towards you, to "wiggle" the radio out. Ford made all of the wiring plenty long, so you do not have to unplug any wiring to fully remove the radio, and get it out of your way.

Looking straight into the radio opening, I could easily see a small/ rectangular black box, that had "Eaton" written on it, with a 4 digit code. This is not the box. Looking beyond that box, I could barely see the white color of the sticker which holds the 5 digit code I was looking for. It was almost completely hidden, so I am not able to say what color box the sticker was on (doesn't matter, because all you need to see is the sticker.)

The first telescopic mirror I tried was too large to squeeze in. Luckily, I had a smaller one, which worked perfect--it was a 2 1/4" round mirror (much like one used by a dentist--only larger.) I shined my flashlight straight into the radio cavity (just above the black "Eaton" box), and positioned the mirror in an opening to the right (passenger side) of the "Eaton" box. I clearly picked up the 5 digit code right away. (When trying the code for the first time, I had to remember that I had read the numbers backwards on the mirror. Also remember that depending on how you read it, the numbers "6" and "9" may look alike.

No tools were necessary to replace the radio--just push it back in. You will hear each side "click" when it is secure.

Another trick on getting the radio out is making your own tool if you don't have one on hand. I used to use old wire hangers to make the u shape of the tool. You just want to try clean the ends so it does not mess up your radio. Also when pushing them into the sides you want to make sure it goes in straight. I used to use this all of the time when I was younger in my ford vehicles and worked fine.

 

I just found my 2002 Excursion keyless keypad code behind the small panel (on a tag on a small box up against the firewall) beneath the in-dash cup holders. Only took unscrewing 2 small screws. After searching everywhere and even taking it to the local Ford dealership (who by the way charged me $0 to try and find my code via a computer hookup) still couldn't find factory code until I got the idea to search in another place.

 

Just picked up a 00X and alas, no keycode card in the owners manual. If that list of codes is still kicking around if someone can send it to my email smigs16@hotmail.com, that would be greatly appreciated!

 

take the radio out and replace it with a bright light and look from under the steering wheel up at the firewall behing the radio and partly blocked by the flexable ductwork you will see a sticker with the code.

 

I found the posting of all the possible codes. It took me about 5 min to find the Factory code. I then changed the personal code to match my wife Expedtion's

I thought that was only for the 02's and beyond? A few have stated they have done this and can't find anything?

 

I couldn't find the code for my 01 anywhere. A few minutes at the keypad and I got that sweet sound of a click. Luckily mine began with a 1.
