Just a note of appreciation. I just bought an 05 Excursion XLT and had only one key. Was super worried about not having the code. I read about the hacks but decided to look for the number first. I removed the trash bag holder and took a flashlight and looked up to the left to the firewall. Attached to the firewall was the black box. I wouldn't have noticed it if it weren't for the sticker and all the numbers on it. I used an old arrow (im an avid archer) and pushed a black hose out of the way to get a better look and BINGO, there it was, five numers separated from the rest. Took all of about 5 minutes. Thanks everyone. My day is complete.
Just looked and my number is on the list.

So after reading this, the 2000 model dosent have the automatic door locks as in when you take off down the street, the doors lock automatically? Because mine dosent do that like my newer Explorers.

I have an F150
There is a quick way to find it.
On mine it is behind the fuse panel, the way I found it was hitting the lock button an listened to the clicking sound of the relay that is in the control module.
On that box,(Mine is white,) it has the sticker in plain sight with the 5 digit code. Vola!

It should but not 100% certain. You should hear a relay click, You may have to have a friend push your unlock button for you so you can hear it

Those SW of Chicago can head to the Ford dealer in Sandwich they read my code for 20 bucks. I spent three hours looking for the code and couldn't find it. It is officially nowhere in my dash as I had the whole thing apart. Mine's an 01.
