You know I have not seen anyone mention in here that Ford also says to look in 2 other places, It says this same thing in my owners manual.
1) on the computer box under the hood
2) Right/Passenger side of vehicle behind kick plate where the fuel cutoff switch is
I have been really busy between PGR and a family member that lost most everything they own to a fire for the last few weeks, but I will try to get my owners manual scanned and posted in here.
Just found it on my 05 x and it was a piece of cake. Did not remove anything and with a long flex mirror and a good light I found the black box up towards the radio and the sticker was on top so I used the mirror and got the numbers. Tried them and they worked. Took about 2 minutes to get myself situated in the right position to see. I just went up by the gas pedal.
The 2000 and I think the 01 doesn't have it anywhere on the truck but some say it is behind everything on the gem box on the left of the steering wheel. You can print out that code; Weak security in our daily lives@Everything2.com
and it should take 20 minutes or less to find it by punching the #s......Click on the word "weak".
Got tired of looking, so I started on the sheet. I modified it so that I could enter the codes 35 at a time (since that's the cutoff for the anti-theft feature). Got lucky and found the code after five lines. Unfortunately it's the code programmed by the previous owner. I guess that will work until I go through the rest of the numbers.
Big thanks to whoever thought to put that list together.

Great! I would leave well enough alone. You have to erase your code and then it requires the original code to program your own new code. But I guess you could find the original code after you erase this one and go from there.
