Y'all know something it kinda bothers me that this information is out like this for all those that would use this for reasons other than themselves, but then again this allows me to know that there is this sort if info that lets me know how vulnerable my vehicle is to those types of persons.
On the next service of my Ex I am going to have the key pad disconnected to prevent just anyone from gaining entry.

You could disconnect the pad but consider how many times you have to try a code to find one that works. My guess is a thief won't do that while worring about being caught.

At first I thought the same thing too and dismissed it, but when I seen on here in the posting that someone went out did a few, then came back later and tried again and did this over several times, the former police training I had kicked in and I got to thinking about when my vehicle is parked for any period of time, like when we are at the beach, shopping centers, and we are there 1/2 to all day, if it only takes 20-40 minutes to hit the right code all someone would have to do is walk up punch a few numbers then come back and try again. You know as well as I do most people wont report suspicious activity.
Still going to disconnect it though.

I can't disagree with your logic. I agree someone could find the code. Consider I bought my truck after it was recovered from being stolen. The truck was stolen, interior/electronics gutted (mechanicals all in place). The truck owner was paid by the ins. co. The truck sold at auction with interior gutted as insurance reclaim vehicle. A local guy bought it pieced together it with interior from a totalled truck to make 1. I bought it with a title indicating it had been through this process. So it is possible my truck was stolen this exact way. But then that is why it is insured. I would hate to lose it as mine is a 7.3 4wd Excursion that isn't made any longer.

I also remember my training (ex military) Leave no sign of presence or passage. So it is possible to steal it with the code but hopefully my insurance guy is standing by the door watching.

Not as hard as you may think.

I found the little white box on the drivers side under the dash on my wifes HD 150. Looks just like the 1 that was pictured by xTraveler's post. Im just glad he had the pictures. I never would have found it other wise. thanks tons X.

I doubt if any crook is going to attempt to stand by a door for 20 minutes to try to get in. Plus he would have to subscribe to FTE in the first place to know about it..................never happen.

Good info Xtraveler

first off, thanks Xtraveler, good info and I was able to retrieve the factory code numbers...the rest of your instructions were good too. I have a 2004 F250 and the module is black. It is also covered by some white insulation material so seeing it straight on is not an option. I had to use a small mirror on a stick. I got down on the floor and looked up, slid the mirror up and shined my flashlight and then i saw the numbers (backwards of course) but hey it worked! Thanks again!

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks. I looked all over for my code, ended up finding it behind the trash bag holding thingy.

Door code

I found the black box with the code sticker behind my radio after i pulled the main part of the dash board off. (comes off easy and radio comes with it.) I could not see the sticker or the code until I layed on my back on the drivers side floor and used a small mirrior then I could see the white sticker with fairly large 5 digit code. Remember to look carefully at the numbers they will be backwards. My ex is an 02. Hope this helps.
