Yeah, I figured. When I did it the other way, it just made the whole key pad blink. I guess I'll find out if my stuff is broken when I ask the OTHER dealer.

That's what we ended up doing. Dealer gave us the code for no charge.
Now I know where to go when I need service &/or parts.

It only took a few minutes - any dealer that cares about customer
service should do it for free.

BTW, I tried looking on the firewall behind the radio, the right kick panel, up under the dash,
through the trash bag holder, and near the rear A/C unit in the storage panel on the RHS.

I didn't try up above the main fuse box near the steering column, or the panel behind
the spare tire storage. Removing the fuse panel was too much work, and removing interior
panels (behind the spare tire) always worries me that I'll break the clips or won't be able
to get the panel installed so that it fits in tight and doesn't rattle after I'm done.

Those are all of the places everyone mentioned in this message thread though.

BTW2 - my wife got part way through the number sequence and gave up about
50 digits before the code appears in the sequence (you can paste the sequence into
Word and search for your code number, if you know it).

Is this "circut" the reason why I can't get the door to unlock when I punch in the code, I wonder? But I can LOCK the door using the last two buttons like the thread says.

Whoever had the truck before me never gave the code to the dealer. O'well, I have the code, it just won't unlock the door.
If the original owner programmed in a different code, you might have to reset, to get back to the original factory code, and then you might want to reprogram to an easier to remember #. I'll look around and see if I can find the instructions.

Edit: Just reading in the manual, and the factory code should still unlock, even when a user programmed code is in.

I have no idea. I just tried it like that to see if that variation worked. Neither does. Maybe I found my first glitch with this truck.

My 03 starts blinking after about 10 or so incorrect buttons are pushed. My take is that the computer is locking you out as it thinks your a crook hoping to hit a long shot?

Maybe later years work different than the earlier ones.
Mine's a 2000, and it seemed to be working.
There may be something posted earlier in this thread
about which years the code can be found with the magic number.

Well THAT was interesting. I went to teh dealer after talking to my salesman on the phone and they retrieved the code for free, like they should've anyways. But the code wasn't the one I found on the module. Weird, huh? Well... it works & I'm happy now.

My factory code (retrieved from the sticker on the module under/behind the dash) didn't work either. Finally had to bite the bullet and have the stealership pull it from the 'puter. They didn't charge me much because they were already givin' it to me Deliverance style on the two new key/keyfobs I bought and had programmed.

If you have the code from the box and it doesn't work,, try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes to allow the computer to default back to the factory setting. This might work if the number is the correct number.

I bought tow keys on eBay and had them programmed at a
Bike & Key shop - cost me about $60 total for the two keys
(incl shipping) and the programming.
