Well, I called Jegs this morning, and they were now giving me a ship date of June 18th for the carb. I called CNC, and it is supposed to be here in 1-2 days. I should have maybe gone through them right away, but I'll mark it down as another "learning experience." Hopefully this weekend, I can get everything switched over and dialed in a little bit. Not even three weeks left to the TI. I'm anxious to see and talk to everyone and looking forward to hearing some trucks rumbling around.
Good deal. Hopefully CNC comes through for you like they did for me. I think I had my TC in a couple of days (if that). I kind of want to say that I called in the morning, he shipped that afternoon, and UPS showed up the next day with it.
I hear ya about the trucks rumbling. I am ready to hear some noise and see some trucks.
Been actually getting some stuff done lately… Clutch is done. Fuel Cell & Battery rack is painted as is the one weight rack. The other will be made in the next couple of days. Carb is sitting on the motor, oil is in the motor, Coolant is in. Now that things are coming together we are feeling better and getting more done. We hope to fire it this weekend and would like to be pretty much done but I am sure we will still have some loose ends to tie up.
Best of all…. My tires showed up today and they are kick )$(*@#$*. I can’t wait to get them screwed and then mounted. I will try to get some pics soon, maybe this weekend when they are mounted. They are a lot taller than our old bars so we may have to redo the hitch a little.
Yes, the carb showed up today. After all of the jacking around, I was happy to get it.
I finished quite a bit of stuff last night also. The tach and gauges are hooked up and wiring ran. I cleaned up some of the wiring inside the cab and in the engine compartment. I adjusted the clutch and the 4wd linkage. I finished cutting my hood for the larger air cleaner. I basically went over everything to make sure it was in place and tightened up.
All I really need to do now is get the carb on and tune the engine. I also need to finish my front ladder bars and remove some excess garb off the rear of the frame. I want to build a back up strap for the engine just in case a motor mount would let loose. I also need to build a cover for my harmonic balancer. I am not running a fluidampr so I will have to figure something out for that. Other than that, I am basically done. I am still debating on whether or not I am even going to mess with the bar tires.
Looking forward to the pics. I'm hoping to get some taken when I have it out this weekend. Hopefully on a day that does not involve rain.
Well, IT’S ALIVE!!!! Got to hear the motor run a few brief times yesterday. It sounds good. This was a long busy weekend. We got the tires screwed to the rims and mounted. Weights painted, inside of box painted, Front of box weight rack mounted, batteries and fuel cell mounted, all wiring done except putting the gauges and switches into our new dash panel that we made, Fuel system all plumbed, and the distributor dropped. Pretty much only major things that are left are building our rear driveline and one shield, getting the correct throttle cable and setting that up, getting it tuned in, and cutting the hood a little more. Hopefully it will be nice next weekend and we can pull it out and give the old girl a bath and polish as she is pretty dirty. It does sound good to 4500 RPM (highest we took it in the shop).
Sounds like you guys had a very productive weekend. Mine was not so much. Basically, it was one of those weekends where there were too many other things going on. Saturday night I had a graduation party, and Sunday was my dad's b-day so that meant heavy beer drinking, which makes for a rough non-productive Monday.
The spark plugs that were ordered for my truck did not come in so that brought things to screechin halt. It had a slight pop in the right bank, so we wanted to get the new plugs in before we put on the carb and began to tune to see if that took care of the problem. Anyway, my plugs are supposed to be in tomorrow along with a few other things I ordered so I should be able to finish everything up later this week or this weekend. I still need to finish my front bars and cut off some extra stuff off of the rear, but besides that I am as ready as I ever will be. I hope anyway!!
I did get some pictures taken, however, I'm not having too much luck getting them off of my computer on to this post??
O.k. I created a few albums and got some pictures posted into those. I included a couple of my other Fords also. Let me know what you think. Now that I educated myself, I will have to get some better photos taken and posted.
That sucks that you couldn't get much done. Looks good. I can't wait to here all of those trucks running in the pits. Whose SuperDuty on the trailer? Does that have stacks?

That is a buddy of mine's truck. Yes, it has stack's on it. That was one of our projects a couple Sunday's back. It actually turned out pretty good. He has a cold air intake and a programmer in it. He needs more though!! Like I said now that I kind of know what I am doing, I will have to take some more photos.
Yeah, those tires look awesome. I wish I had four of those for my truck. Looks like you guys put alot of time and effort into everything. You shouldn't have any problems being ready for TI. I'm anxious to bs with everyone and check out everyone's trucks.
FYI...I added a few more photos to my gallery. I'm going to have to take some better ones once I get the carb and air cleaner on it. I'm hoping to get some good action photos of everyone pulling this year and find a way to get them on the web. I don't think trucks from the club get the exposure they deserve.
Well for $2500.00 or so I could get you setup with the right people... LOL.
I agree. I would love to get some better & bigger photos of the other trucks but it just seems that we are always so busy getting stuff ready that we hardly have time to watch any classes without taking pics.
Well, had a little set back with The Wood. Got the carburetor on and started tuning. It was idling and running great however, the fuel pump was not keeping the desired pressure. Luckily, O'Reilly's had a Holley Blue Pump on hand so I picked it up. I was kind of wondering about the pump. I had bought it from Farrell about four years ago so I was thinking it was maybe time to update. The engine sounds good though. It really starts coming to life around 4500. Did not take it any higher, but it sounds way better with the new carb. Hopefully everything dries out a little bit on Saturday to take it out and put it under a load to see if we need to play with the jets or not.
How are you guys coming along?? You should be about done wrapping up all of the same details??
Too many visitors & beers last night to get much done. Saturday we have to do the driveline and one sheild. Then it is just cut a little more on our hood, tune & time it and then wash it. We have somebody coming by to help tune & time it sometime this weekend. I guess we have to finish the throttle too. That cable should be here today.
Oh and we gotta try to drive it and make sure it moves. Ours sounds pretty good (at least compared to last year). We haven't taken ours above about 4500 either.
