I know that Craig is a pretty big town... Anyone know where they are doing the TI at?

Freak... You know of anything new happening with the Renter/Hasemann trucks??

Silver... How is the new truck coming?

When I talked to Loy on Sunday, he thought they were going to do the TI in Scribner and the test and tune in Craig. I know that is not how the website reads, but it does make more sense. I wouldn't think they would change scales, but you never know. It may be worth calling to find out for sure.

Haven't heard too much regarding their trucks. I know Larry and Brad both bought new profab tranny's. Brad has a crap load of money in his body and framework so I'm anxious to see how it looks. A little more anxious to watch him try and drive a two-wheeler. I also heard Wes Malone (Plum Crazy) is going to be pulling a two-wheeler this year also. I think he is going to be running one of his Merlin's in it. Must be nice to have that much money. They also built a new engine for the Plum Crazy truck.

Yes it would be nice to have that much $$$. It will be nice to see some new iron around. I think that Larry had some tranmission trouble last year. Hopefully the new profab holds together for him. What is Brad calling this truck? It was the old Red Thunder wasn't it? So will Wes be pulling both trucks then?

Oh and Bryan talked to the guys down here. They won’t be starting the season with us. Body went to get done yesterday and they just found out something was wrong with a couple of pistons and will have to have new ones cut. They are hoping to be back and out there by Red Oak & Malvern. Maybe we will get some more info tonight as they are supposed to stop out at the shop and check on our clutch.

I'm not sure what Brad is calling his truck. Maybe the same name?? Yes, it is the old Haseman truck. I think Wes will run the two-wheeler and Kent will drive the 4wd.

That sucks that those guys have to run into engine troubles now. I would worry about the engine first and the body later on, but that is just me. As long as something runs and pulls hard, I don't care what it looks like. What two trucks are they?? You said that they have pulled before??

Should have clarified. It is one truck for now with 2 guys. The motor is at a builder to get freshened, so they will take care of that part of it. The body will be cleaned up and then shot. They do have an old mod truck called "The Misfit" it was an old Studebacker. They got it dirt cheap and hope to restore it pull again some day.

Freak… Do you have a Double Disk clutch??? If so or what have you seen used for a clutch cable? We have one but feel it is too small. Somebody mentioned a PTO cable may be thicker and more stout. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Yes, I am running a double disc clutch, but I am running normal linkage. I was going to ask you about this the other day when you mentioned it. I didn't have a clue so I asked Chris. Here is his response:

It’d be a pull-type off the pedal probly with a pulley. I’d say either 3/16” or ¼” is adequate and I’d recommend using a thimble at the connections or a wedge crimp end if it goes thru the lever. He can call me if needed.

Not sure if that helps you any or not??

I think this is what we have... (Don't have the paper in front of me).

I know that it is hard to see. According to Jegs site it uses 10/32 threads. Oh and thanks for checking. We may go on a hunt for a stock setup.

Got an email back from Rich. TI is in Craig from 1-4 and then the test-n-tune starts at 5.

Hmmm. I wonder why they decided to change everything. I also think that it is weird that they are having the Test and Tune in Craig when Craig has not solidified a pull on the schedule. If they are going to have a Test and Tune there, I think they should ensure that Craig will have a pull later in the year.

Like I said, I'm hoping to TI before the 9th just in case I can not make it, but we'll have to see how everything goes. I'm taking a little PTO on Monday so I'm hoping to get alot of the little stuff done. As long as the carb shows up next week, I should be in good shape. Did you guys ever get your tires back?? You'll have to send some more photos once you get some more stuff bolted on. Have you updated the website any?? I think you should make a special section on your website dedicated to all Ford Pulling Trucks The club definately needs to do some work on their website or get someone to run it. Alot of other clubs have some really cool sites. The NPPA's is pretty lame.

Well if someone would get their truck out of the barn and send me some pics maybe I could do that.... (hint, hint)

I kind of think that Craig isn't having a pull since it was taken off the schedule. Maybe they will add one later.

Haven't updated the site yet. Need to get some more stuff done. For some reason we just can't get anything done. Hopefully things will start coming together this week. Last I heard they were hoping to have the tires hardened by the end of last week. I think I will give him a call today.

Thanks,

Chris

Ha ha. I should have taken some pictures yesterday, but to be honest with you I didn't even think about it. I will get some taken this weekend for sure.

I hear you about not being able to get anything done. I worked on it all day yesterday, and it barely seemed like I accomplished anything. I did find out that the radiator I was going to use will not fit so now I'm going to have to have my old one checked out. I did get some chassis stuff done and the new tach and gauges mounted and hooked up. I also cleaned up some wiring and re-cut my hood so it wasn't a completely unproductive day.

I checked Jegs website this morning. It does not appear that the carburetor has shipped yet so I will have to call today and see what the deal is with that. I'm hoping that it is not backordered even longer. I'm hoping this weekend and with a little longer Memorial Day weekend I can finish everything up, but we both knows how that can go.

That sucks that your carb is still back ordered. The wife was hoping that I would be able to go to OKC over Memorial Day weekend but that is looking very doubtful. I have to call this afternoon and see if the tires need rehardened (they were very soft). I need to call around and see if I can find a cable to use for our clutch. Bryan is getting a bunch of metal tonight for weightbars and mounting our fuel system and batteries to.

Did you move your motor or just buy to big of a radiator?

I got the radiator for nothing so I really only have the $20 in it to get it checked out. It was too tall. I have some bars running under the front for my weight bracket so I could only drop it in that far. My old radiator had a leak so I'm going to see if I can get that one fixed. I think it should work fine, but I thought it would be nice to have a larger one.

Did you buy your tires used?? I guess I never heard of hardening tires. What is the process for that??

FYI... I saw some flyers up for the Fremont pull. Kind of let's you know how close pulling season really is!!
