If I decide to go with a V10 whats the best for gearing, this is all new to me.
theres
3.73
4.10
4.30
right
Want best possible gas mileage, but also want to add a bigger tire to the truck, preferably with no lift involved. So whatever tire fits 35's without a lift.
How do you go about figuring the larger tires in with the gearing?
if you are going for new, the choice is 4:10's or 4:30's go for the 30's. it was only 50 bucks when i ordered and since you plan on bigger tires you will be back down near 4:10 any way.
gas mpg's seem almost the same with both gear sets.
Not to pile on here, but get the 4.30's. I had 3.73's in my last SuperDuty, 305's on both trucks, and the 4.30's win hands down. Mileage is about the same and my 4.30 truck is heavier.
In the truck market right now, irregardless of brand, the V10/Torqshift auto/4.30LS is the biggest bang for the buck.
Go with the 4.30s. I let the salesman convince me that 3.73s were the way to go. I paid a lot of money recently to get what I wanted in the first place.
Not to sound like a smartbutt, but if gas milage is that big of a concern you chose the wrong vehicle. I just picked up my 06 350. I have the 10 w/torqshift,4.30s, lwb 4-dr and I absolutly love it. I have only driven it back from the dealer and the only thing I am going to change is the sound system. It is great. My wife has asked it she can drive it work and let me take our e-150 van. I don't think so scooter! Get the 4.30s
Me too get the 4.30's and she will walk the dog! My mileage is 9 to 10 towing 9K Fiver, 11 to 12 around town 14 on highway.
If you are looking for MPG's get you a ole' beater car to drive back and forth to work and save the V10 for towing and BSEG's.

I like that Captchas. 10-4 on the empty tank. I think that they think the gas fairy comes by and fills them up! I drove my new truck to work tonight. Man what a blast. It was well worth the wait to have it built. They can keep their psd's 7.3 or 6.0!!!!!!! You all have a good night I have to slave away for 12
what is the factory standard or most common gearing with a v-10, 4x4? Does this vary depending if its an auto or manual. or depending on tow package or anything. In my previous jeep experience, the manuals were always geared lower from the factory. (usually 3.73 auto and 4.10 manual) Just curious if it was the same with the f 250, v-10.
