As long as you can adjust the timing in the light to time the flash. TBH that looks just like our old snapon light.

Hey just wanted to say thanks to all you guys for all the great info. I timed the Bronco today using a Snap On MT257 inductive adaptor I got on eBay for $125. I used my trusty Sears timing light I have had since the 70s and timing tape I got at Summit for like $5. Modified an old Challenger 9/16" wrench for loosening the injector pump bolts and used a turnbuckle like I saw on the youtube video for holding the RPMs. She's now set to 8* BTDC. It still amazes me how easy it is to get your hands on this info nowadays. Thank you all!!

How to turn the pump

Hey so I'm reading through this thread and got tired of looking for what I was trying to find haha. I need to advance my pump so I loosened the 9/16 bolts and need to turn the pump, but I cannot get that gosh darn thing to move.. I even loosed the 12 point bolts behind the oil fill tube.. still can't get it to move.. any tips? is there something else I am missing?

Don't loosen the 12 point bolts; you want them tight.

You will really have to lever on the pump to get it to move(big wrench), and it won't want to move very far. All 8 injector lines are effectively holding it in place.
One thing I've done in the past is removed the lines, adjusted the pump, then reinstalled the lines, if I needed to make a big adjustment and the lines were keeping it from moving any further.

The bolts behind the fill tube won't help you. Tighten those back up and close that up. To be clear, there are three nuts to loosen to turn the pump, make sure that you got all three. With those three nuts loose, the pump will turn, Sometimes you need to crack as many of the injector lines at the pump head that you can reach, so you are not trying to twist the lines at the same time. There is a 3/4 square block on the front top of the pump, put a 3/4 open end wrench on it and try to turn it that way. Towards the passenger side is advancing timing, and towards the drivers side is retarding it.

good luck,

Mac.
