The 2005 6.0 diesel engine is terrible. If you plan on towing with it you should consider something else. We have numerous drivers who have had nothing but problems. Poor gas mileage, no towing power up a grade, goes thru injectjors, needs to be replaced often. I have 80,000 miles, have been thru 14 injectors, one engine at 50,000 miles, lost left front wheel due to bad bearings and grease, 30,000 miles bearings and grease bad again. Transmission shifts poorly, vibration in drive train, and vibration in rear end that Ford says I have to live with. This truck is a poor excuse for a work truck. Ford does nothing.
How long have these trucks been in service? When did you purchase them? What is their primary use? Who drives them? It sounds to me like you have a bunch of people that think these trucks are corvettes, and can't drive. Also to get those kind of miles on an '05 you'd have to drive about 6000 miles a day.

This truck is driven @ 65mph. Pulling anything from 3K to 10K pounds. Travel trailers, boats, horse trailers. 30% of the miles are empty. All maintance is performed as scheduled.
9 hrs a day averaging 60mph 6 days a week for 6 months. Your ford service team must be top notch to replace injectors, one engine and handle drive train problems.
Now ya wunder why we do not take your post seriously.
Actually I drive 10 to 11 hours a day for between 6 & 7 hundred miles when loaded. More when I am empty. I am sorry you don't believe. I have RO's from around the country. I am sitting in North Dakota now trying to figure what is wrong with the truck. Had 2 injectors replaced in Minn. and 400 miles down the road I sit and had 3 more replaced. Made it fourty miles down the road and started to do the same thing. Had to be towed back to Fargo ND. Like I said I have tow bills, motel receipts and repair orders to back up my claim.

Have you considered part of the problem may be with how the trucks are being serviced and/or maintained? Using quality fuel, oil, etc...
Just Because all ford drivers dont sit at the computer and compile posts about their trucks dont mean they use them. This is the other side of the coin that some people arent use to. Extreme use. Did you ever see the occaisonal new truck running down the interstate all banged up and dirty. looks like it is 10 years old and is only 1 year old? i have. usually pulling a 3 car hauler.
Maybe this guy is legit. And before everyone starts flaming me, i said MAYBE.
Well if you were to consider something else I would, F650 with a CAT but then the states would require a CDL so your not flying under the radar with an F-350
Well, assuming he is being truthful, let's take into consideration his problems.
Since the replacement of the injectors on the '03 with the new type, there have not been any reports of bad injectors. The new ones are pretty solid.
It is possible for an injector to go bad on any engine, but to have ALL the injectors go bad signifies (at least to me) a problem other than the injectors...maybe bad fuel.
Or possibly poor maintenance (oil changes) as the injectors are hydralic. That many miles per day, you should be having an oil change every week or so...
I'm going to give Firetail the benefit of doubt.. I don't disagree with his claims. Mathamatically it could work out. He'd be breaking the laws if he was a heavy long haul driver though. Just another tired driver behind the wheel. Disaster waiting for an opportunity. So-Be-It.
But Firetail. Sittin on your rear for that long each day, I can see why you've got a bur up there.
All kidding aside, You say that Ford does nothing. That the truck is junk in so many words. And that one may very well be. But you are the minority. There are plenty of very satisfied PSD owners. Many that tow heavy, but within rated capacities. That said, If you want to use this forum as a sounding board, I don't think you'll be accepted very well if you don't set some facts down. 4wd? 2wd? Torqueshift? Modifications to the truck? Repeated service for components? Small dealer service departments? Do you allow them the time necessary to correctly diagnose the issues? Ford is no help? Have you contacted FMC customer serviced or have you just dealt with the service manager from Ford in TimBuckToo? Have you gone back to the dealer you purchased from? No help?
I do understand your frustration. Especially since it appears that you use your truck to earn a living. But to use this forum to slam the rig is probably not going to get you very much assistance. We'll just say that attitude appears to be pronounced in your posts.
05' Injectors are not specifically known for failure that I know of. I assume that you're changing the engine oil on a regular 'extreme service' schedule? Have you gone to a synthetic oil yet? Your rear end vibrations could be caused by a number of things. Did this start the day the truck was put into service? As for no power... Was the truck broken in correctly? Or put into service towing heavily from day one. Did power fade away, or was any there to begin with? Has this rig had a reflash? Regarding the left front wheel bearings. One failure, well, we can accept that. Repeated failure of the same component would quite possibly indicate an issue with the spindle, rotor or installation.
If your truck qualifies for any lemon laws, then I suggest you invoke that. There's no reason to spend that kind of money on a truck you're not satisfied with, is unreliable or unsafe.
I do have to question why anyone would press an F350 into this type of service. Yes, an F650 would be a better choice for that many loaded miles every day. Sort of like using a little Toyota to tow my camp trailer. Just because it can, doesn't mean that it should. Extended service the likes of 80,000 miles in four or so months is a bit extreme. These are consumer vehicles.
04' F250sc 4x4 PSD 6spd Line-X. Never been to the dealer for an issue.

If the injectors are truly dying at this rate, it is not a matter of IF there is a fuel or oil problem, but rather WHAT it is specifically wrong. The new injectors simply do not fail at this rate. 14 injectors, by number, rule out a faulty production batch.
If this is real, you NEED to be doing consistant oil anaylsis every change, and running fuel additive (Stanadyne, Power Service, ect)
What kind of oil are you using? Have you ever had it analyzed? Like I said previously, there is an underlying problem. These trucks simply don't have issues this severe, realistically.
FIRETAIL, how often do you trade trucks? what year and brand did you have before the 05 FORDS? I would guess with the miles you put on you trade quite often! What brand truck went the most miles before you had problems?
