Darn it!! I don't think the dealer can repair things as well as they come from the factory. Factory trannies will last over 100K and a dealer rebuild will last maybe 50K.

Anyway, I checked my VIN# on the provided link above and no recalls for my truck.

Has everyone with the TQSHFT problem build dates checked their VIN #s for recalls? Were they listed?
I must be losing it, where's the link (above?) to ck the Vin#'s?

Cool

My truck started shifting into gear slowly brought it in to dealer and was told it was a silanode but the part was on back order. I was told I could take the truck it was not going to cause any damage. When I returned a few days later they had shavings in the oil. Then I was told that it would have to be taken down completely. I was not happy I told them to put a new tranny but they said ford would not put a new tranny in my truck has only 8500 miles. It toke 28 days to fix because they could not get parts. I got it back and have felt hard shifts and it slipped once. The part that has been recalled requires the hold tranny to be taken apart.

I took my 04 Ex to the dealership on Friday and asked them about the recall. They looked it up and told me mine applied, and then they told me they they had not done that service to any other vehicle yet. I took the rig back for the weekend and made an appointment for Monday. Should I be worried that they haven't performed the service yet? My rig isn't showing any signs of transmission trouble, but I'd like to take care of it earlier rather than later. I'd also hate to have a problem created by the fix. Any thoughts? Should I cancel the appointment and wait till they have some experience under their belts? Or just be without the truck for 2 days and hope they fix a future problem? Thanks for the opinions! BTW, I will probably double post this in other related forums just to get the most amount of feedback before Monday (1/17).

I too have no problems, at 4200 miles, and I'm having the fix done tomorrow. I'm also the first my dealer has done.
Good luck.

For you guys in the dfw area I found out that the two dealers w/the largest diesel shops are at Lee Jarmon(now sam pack 5 star) and Prestige. Sam Packs sells & delivers all the ford parts to the Dallas area. I was going to go to prestige but decided on Sam Packs for the recall repair because they have a larger shop than prestige.

Still need help. I've looked at all 4 pages & I must not be able to "see the forest thru the trees". I don't see the "Link, provided above, for checking my Vin# for the tranny recall".

Must be an old fart thing.

Post #38, above:
MyFord.com isn't up to date.
The guys at http://6literpowerstroke.flatratetech.com/ will do a VIN/OASIS check for you.

Transmission Recall

Hi Everyone,

Well I am new to the website and I have read all the read First Stickies and I was going to put my vin# in and try to run it for recalls but I couldnt find it. My build date on the truck is 1/04 and the engine build date is Dec. 21, 2003. As of yet I have not experienced any slipping in reverse. On 1 or 2 ocassion while going around a corner under light throttle it felt like the trans slipped or did not go into gear. I am also not sure if the truck was slipping on ice as it has been cold up here. Anyway I work for a G.M. dealer as a tech and it hasnt happened enough times for me to worry all that much. The fluid is full and is not discolored or burn smelling. Also the trans temp guage I instlalled has never gone above 110. I was just in for the first oil change and nothing was said to me. Is it normal practice at Ford to run a vehicle history whenever the truck is in for service?? Thanks for the help as usual.

Oh yeah the truck is an 04 F-350 with a torque shift auto trans, 3.73, short box extended cab. I Love the truck I have had 3 new Ford trucks and this is my first diesel. I will never own another gas truck!!!

Hi all, I'm just ordering a new F250 6.0 with a 5 speed auto tranny. Since this is a yet to be built truck I am hoping it will not be built with a tranny that will need to be recalled ... any thoughts?

Posted on earlier thread on transmission recall, FYI to locate TRANSMISSION build date (vs vehicle, which is on door). Transmission info is on side of transmission as seen on drivers side (white sticker):

My 05 F350 6L PSD TS (door sticker build date 10/04) has a transmission date of 10/26/04 (261004). Note the format is is DD-MM-YY on mine.

::hope this helps::::

I just got the Oasis report...mine is due for the recall.

I guess I'll get it checked out in 2000 miles for the next oil change, eventhough I think the way it came from the factory will be better than after they open up the tranny and fix whatever is wrong w/ it.

Seems fine so far except for not engaging overdrive solidly at 45 mph. It seems to ride the clutch a little at low OD speeds 40-45.

I wish I could disengage Overdrive for around town driving.

Hopefully in a couple months they will have the recall repair figured out.
