I'm a tech at a dealer.
We have 1 main transmission tech and a couple of us that do some if he is really busy or away. That's how I got the one Torqshift to do.
Driving in a city in a Focus isn't really that bad
As long as no one you know sees you
I called the dealer today and gave them all the information about the "customer satisfaction program" including the number. The lady told me to hold then I could hear her in the background saying "some guy on the phone has a really strange question."
A gentlemen then got on the phone I explained the situation to him and he said he just heard about that one recently but does not have all of the information needed to perform the repairs. I asked him what to do from here and he said "don't know what to tell you bud, check back in a few weeks."
I explained to the gentlemen that I thought the problem warranted a bit more urgency and he again said "don't know what to tell you bud."
I guess a visit to the service manager is in order.
That was probably the service manager to whom you talked.
Pretty much the same answer I got from my dealer; specifically, " We don't know what will be involved. We'll call you when ( if ever ) we find out."
You need to talk to a tech, not a service manager. I take care of the diesel tech like he's my best buddy. Found out he likes to hunt & fish so I got him a gift certificate to Cabellas. He likes steak so I tossed him some filet mignon. My wife even baked some brownies for the truck shop guys and I had her deliver them and say thanks for the great job you do on my husband's girlfriend(truck). Make sure you give a big "THANKYOU!" when work gets done on your truck. This is spread out over a years time but I think you get the picture.TAKE CARE OF THOSE THAT TAKE CARE OF YOU. When I walked in with the printout about this torque-shift problem, he took it from me and we walked into the dealership so he could go into OASIS and see if it was true...while I was there....and then we went to see parts to check on the kits and then we went to see the trans tech. My truck was in the shop 36 hours later. Hm-m-m-m.
kw5413,
Maybe you should send your wife in with the beast. See if she can finaggle them out of a super duty loaner.
If It works, let us know. I'll start sending my wife in with mine. With a note of course.
Hey you guys have a good point and my Darlin' wife is significantly better looking than I am.
But, while she really likes riding in my "big, noisy stinky, smelly" diesel truck...she doesn't like driving it much. Hates when we take it shopping though 'cause I make us all walk the extra "2 miles" (according to her) accross the mall parking lot.
I actually do that so she won't insist that I go so often but, don't tell anybody.
I droppecd off my 2004 Superduty 6.0 at the dealer for a 5000mi. oil change on Wednesday. Later in the day I received a call from my service advisor telling me that there was a recall on some sort of component in the tranny. They didn't have the parts in so I wont get it back until Monday afternoon.
I'm supposed to be picking up a loaner car after work today. I wonder what kind of vehicle they'll stick me with.
Has anyone noticed the symptoms of this problem in thier trucks? I have noticed lately that the first take off of when going from reverse to drive I feel and hear a clunk.

Reason: because
Duke, are you hearing the clunck from when your heater vents are opening or closing? Mine sounds like a spring loaded plastic flapper slaming shut when i first put her in reverse or into drive from reverse. Seem to remember reading about this last year or so. Only does it after i shut the truck off and restart later on. More prevalent in colder weather also.
Sorry guys, I guess I jumped the gun on this recall notification. I know the message/bulletin that got out early was for NOTIFICATIN to owners of suspected-affected vehicles was not to START until 1/5/05....... The information age(FTE is the BEST!) moves things at an incredible rate of speed, at all hours of the day & night. Since this hit the air/wirewaves I'm sure alot of 6.0 Torque-Shift owners bombarded dealerships demanding to know what was going on. I know I did. The build date of the transmission is the key to it all,(March ' 04 -June' 04) not the build date of the truck. And then a different problem has shown up on the ' 05 Torque-Shift transmissions. Parts are in the system, to fix both problems, just not enough at this time. And I know the Flat-rate techs are not happy with time alotted to do this repair. Which does complicate things a little. PATIENCE.......
The clunk on mine seems like it is coming from the front driveline, possibly the front hubs, however; I notice when my A/C clutch engages and disengages I hear a clunk similar to the spring door clunk you described.
I am considering taking mine to Prestige for service, I heard they really do a good job out there...it is just a long trip and bankston is in my back yard.
at 5000+ miles my tranny was repalced..Now at 7000 Im having the same problems that led up to the replacement of the original..Th first tranny's differential cracked in half....They could never give me a reason why...Im hopin for the best....
