I'm just wrapping up some paper work and watching Jimmy Kimble, after that we are going to watch the original Airplane movie. Haven't seen that in years
I'm just sittin back..hangin out here, eating some half nasty beef jerky from Wisconsin. I miss the beef jerky from the meat market in my home town.
Damn, I sure am sounding like I miss home.
Think my wife is gonna have to mail me some jerky.
Oh, and watching my battery slowly empty....a wireless network is awsome...its the charging of the battery that kinda defeats the purpose.
Hey peppy,
Yeah the weather and the sun/no sun thing as you put it takes a little while to get used to. I remember as a kid new to Alaska, my Mom told us the first summer we could play outside till it got dark...at 3:00 a.m. we had to come in - and it wasn't dark yet! She didn't make that mistake again! LOL!
Actually to get the true midnight sun and no sun for months thing, you need to go farther north than Fairbanks. We do have twilight during the summer, and it gets just dark enough to see your headlights work at night. And in the winter we do see the sun (for about 3 hours a day). So it's not a complete day/night thing. In Barrow though it does get that bad. They don't see the sun for several months and in the summer it does stay up for several months. It's weird.
So if you aren't here in Alaska, and you miss home in TX. where in the country are you presently?
I'm at 'home'. Kinda just chillin. Decided to hang here as to watch a little TV. Thinking about my fun filled day tomorrow. It sure doesnt feel like 12:30am. I almost feel like I'm working nights again. Went out after work......feel all rejuvenated and stuff. I figure if I try read a little of my book and crash by 0130...I'll make it thru tomorrow. Looking foward to the morning......a couple doughnuts and a cup of coffee...then off to the place where everyone knows your name......it aint Cheers.......its the land of crisis.
Thats were I'd like to go.....Barrow. Looks like my kinda place.....desolate.
I'm currently in Southwest Ohio.....Cincinnati. Hanging out here for a few months.
Its a nice change of pace.
Honestly.....I'm not sure if I'm going back to my old job. My leave of absence is up the first of March. As a personal note.....I look to be heading back to Texas in a positive way. Things seem to be working out for the better.
As for work.....Maybe by then I'll be ready for a break from the present high pace of things. With the excitement of the new place, the old place will be pretty boring unless they can provide some new challenges for me. Often thier idea of a challenge is more like a chore.
I've been asking around and making a few calls...looking for a good place to make myself useful.
I've also thought about some overseas work. Being gone a year ruled that out all together.
I was lucky enough to gethired for a job I already liked right in my home area. I'v been loking at fixer-upper houses lately, whew it is amazing what some folks will let a place run down into.
So the return to Texas will probably not be a return to the same job?
So the return to Texas will probably not be a return to the same job?
I dont know for sure. I dont seem to miss it too much. I havent even stayed in touch like I thought I would. I have no idea really. The good part....I know my wife will support me in whatever decision I makeas long as I like what I'm doing, and still hand her bill money.
