Seem slike you guys run some sort of swing shift I guess. I would hate that, you'd never get use to sleeping.
Ryan I know the sun worshippers too, somewhat. I usually sleep in the evenings instead of right when I get home.
I'm the only one where I work that does this sort of shift. I work 4 10hr shifts, two start at 4pm, and end at 2 am. The next one starts at midnight, and ends at 10 am, and the following starts at 10 pm and ends at 8 am....all are back to back. They consider Friday my day off, although I got off at 2 am, and start Saturday at 12am..... and I get Mon/Tues off as useable days off...Friday's sleep is broken into a 6 hr sleep, and a 2-3 hr nap prior to work. It sucks, but it pays the bills rather well...the average wage around me is a lot less than I make now.
WWWWWOOOHHHHHOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! We finally reached page 100. We should be proud of ourselves and celebrate now. I'll start by heading to the throne, that black bean soup from lunch yesterday is tearing me up inside, literally.

I'm on 5-8's where I work and the wage here is awesome, plus it's got state benefits and the like. I work 11 pm to 7 am, my work-week starts Saturday night at 2300 and runs Sun-Thurs. so Thursday mornign at 0700 my weekend starts. In fact my weekend starts in 3 hours.
You know I figured since we was all like family........LOL
Besides that's only half the story, that's just what it WAS doing then. Would you be interested in what it has done since then?
Actually I don't have a "swing shift" as such. My dept uses a 72 hours on/96 hours off (3 on/ 4 off) schedule. But I have no life, so I am on the Forum boards everyday! LOL!

This here thread happens to be a certain class of an elite bunch of people who get the opportunity to work while others are sleeping. Only the best can do it, welcome to the club.
Social life? What that?

You sound like me.....I post on 7 forums ranging from pc help to automotive and other topics as well. Some I learn more than other from, some I offer more than I learn, some are a mix of both. Regardless, it is at least some form of contact with others like myself who rarely get out much other than work, and a bit on the odd day off if one can manage to swing to a "normal" schedule...whatever that is.... Keep it real all...someone's gotta do our jobs.
Part of what keeps me at mine is the money involved, as well as the benefits in regards to pension, medical and dental subsidies, and life insurance. I'm Canadian, so things are different here than the states. Our medical is covered for the most part, but there are exceptions(few), dental is a paid for scenario, I get 80% coverage, get life insurance/loss of wage if I injure myself on or off the job, benefactor gets a year's wages if I were to pass on for any reason, etc...I can't really complain. The hours, for now, suck, but there's room to grow/advance as well, and get on a better shift. I'm getting to the upper end of seniority, so something better is just around the corner, as well as a better wage. Take it as it comes....I can handle it. It's really not so much different from when I drove the rigs, instead of unloading and loading them, except I get to sleep in my own bed, and be home everyday/night, instead of in some truck stop miles from anywhere I really know.
Social life??? I think I saw them on sale over at Mal-Wart the other day... I was thinking about getting one, but then I figured I wouldnt know what to do with it anyway
Well after doing this smoke-eating job for some 23+ years and working schedule work like this, the thought of having an 8-5 scares me to death!
I don't know what I would do with myself coming home from work like "real" folks...it would probably drive my wife crazy!
I did do the real world routine for a year and a half back in 1984-1985 when I went to sunny California...but I couldn't make a living in L.A. so I came back to Alaska and went back to my old habits! LOL!
And yes RR4E, I post on several of the Forums here and *ahem* another Ford site. *quickly ducking* But I am primarily here on FTE.
