Did you see that Chevy is going back to inlines. I read that inlines were more expensive to manufacture than a comparable v. They said the reason was better fuel economy. Better nvh. An inline 6 will get better fuel economy than a v6. While providing great torque characteristics.

Heretic ... you amaze me. You bring up Chevy 250's and Volvos. Yet ... I'm off-course. Let's refresh your memory:
Topic: Forc vs. competition
Thread: PSD vs. Cummins
My point: V engine technology against Inline engine technology (isnt that germane to this thread?) ... that V engines are equally durable, long-lasting, but offering more flexibility and better trades.
Your point: Only inlines go a million miles, there are no V-engines which have gone a million miles
My counter-point: Here is a 6.5 million Dodge Hemi
Your counter-point: Gee, Ironman, you get off-course
Now ... all this is on top of the fact that I have made some tables, calculations, listed out trade criteria, explained some engineering concepts and matched this with published tests and data ... in various threads.
The normal response from this crowd is usually emotional, whining, and mindless counter-points which ignore clear cases of math and physics which have been laid out for you.
What else can I say?
It's obvious. This crowd is more interested in talking about their Duramax's, their Cummins, their 351's and 250's. Where is the Ford Truck community? Is there another, better, Ford truck forum? If so, I'd like a helpful link to find it.
I own a dodge-cummins too, but this sight seems to be nothing but dodge owners out on a rampage. Interestingly, I haven't run across too many PSD owners on all these PSD threads.

Are there any PSD owners?
The Ironman is rusting from all the drivel
Exactly. These Dodge guys are really promoting Dodge. If Dodge is so good how come they are number 3 in sales. They are number 3 and they always will be No.3. The Dodge owners have to put every angle on the situation so its in there favor. Ine figured it out. Ford owners dont have to defend there trucks. Dodge owners are very insecure. They know Ford got the best truck deep down. That want to make Dodge into something it isnt a Ford. Poor try guys its not going to work. Give it up.

How come they cannot keep their own kind...over on their forums, we are just so much fun here......
Yeh Tim I am going over to the Dodge forums to stir the pot a little. I am going to make sure Ford represented well. Not really. The Gm guys are not near
as bad as these Dodge guys.
That's 3 PSD owners. Any more? drop a short note, I'd like a head count.
Choctaw Bob own's a PSD as well. I think you're right, most of the posters don't own a PSD and in many cases have never driven one. I have driven both Cummins and Duramax diesel powered truck as well. My PSD is a 1997 and I've also driven a few newer PSDs including my parents 2001.
The 6.0 area is full of them, (PSD is a 6.0) the Super Duty section is full of them, the 7.3, well all are PSD's.......numbers..... less say ...o-wait did I for get to ask why this is important to you, and how this ties into the Ford vs. the Comp...forum
Tim, are you saying that since this is "ford vs competition" forum, and that since most of these threads are on psd, psd vs cummins, psd most durable ... etc, etc that we should not expect some PSD owners to be the main conversants?
I have yet to see much meaningful input from Cummins and Duramax people. Additoinally, I've contributed, if nothing else, some good technical discussion on the Torqshift and it's role, which falls across many Ford trucks.
It sure has seemed that the 6.0 has been the main discussion point. After all ... it's THE main diesel put out right now, unless we have a bunch of private F-650 owners here.
I think Tim's saying that everyone is free to participate which is true. I think what you are saying is that a lot of those posting inflammatory comments have never owned or driven a PSD which is also true.
I don't think you're really contributing anything here Ironman. Logical Heritic is posting valid points off the other side of the Ford bias continuum. All you do is take things out of context, insult, criticise, and give the run-around and never really address the situation. You act like you have a master degree in physics but you don't sound intelligent to me.
I don't own a PSD, but hopefully I will if I can get financed this weekend. I do have a Ford, though, and have driven several PSD, Cummins and Duramax diesels.
I dont' know if any of you are involved in agriculture as I am, but there are several companies out there that mount agricultural field sprayers with 400-600 gallon tanks and 50 -60 foot booms on commercial pickup truck chassis for the purpose of applying pesticides to farm fields. That said, I have never seen (in my 15 years in the biz) a commercial rig mounted on any chassis besides a FORD SD. And since 99, every one is a PSD. These rigs are abused. Not more than 4-5000 miles annually, BUT most run 1-2000 hours annually in the field! FORD SD is the only chassis that will warranty in this extreme situation!
Another thought, how many ambulance bodies do you see on Dodges or a Duramax????
