And what are the 1/4 mile times/tow ratings of that truck? I notice first thing that a Lightning is cheaper.

6,200 lbs... higher than a lightning.

1/4 times aren't real good, since its N/A and it has an open diff.

"I notice first thing that a Lightning is cheaper."

If you look at the sticker it's only more $$ because of options. Get rid of the On star and XM radio and it's cheaper(not even including the $1000 rebate on this one), even though it's an ext cab. Of course then you wouldn't have a power seat and it's still not leather. This one has a locker(probably not really a locker), it's an option, but it's still there (and still cheaper w/ it).

To save you the trouble an L stickers at $33,035 w/ no options.

The 6,200 lbs. isn't the tow rating, it's the GVWR. I don't know the actual tow rating but, seeing as it has the same GVWR as a non VHO w/ the same axle/chassis options, I'll bet that it's 8,100 lbs (again the same as a non VHO). This could be wrong, just stuff pieced together from GM's sight. Gotta be higher than 6,200 though.

But it's not going to be competition for the Lightning in a race. If you don't want the speed, then why wouldn't you want the AWD?

I'm kinda confused on the Chevy/GMC issue. The page I linked to is the only info I can find on it. It says GMC Sierra, but the commercial I saw definetly said "Chevy Silverado VHO". I can't find anything on chevy or GMC's site pertaining to either. GMC has a sport package listed, but it isn't this package for sure. Kinda weird. I assume "VHO" is an option package code that wouldn't necessarily be present on the sticker. Hoping someone else had info.

i have priced the chevys and the GMC against ford trucks and on a truck equipped just like a ford truck its sticker price is around $2,000 more than a ford. and Gm doesnt even give their employess as good as a dicount as ford employees get from ford. no matter how you look at it the ford is all the way the better deal, more affordable and the best truck out there.

you also can not copare the truck in the link above to a lightning. try comparing the silverado SS to it. the lightning still beats it and the chevy SSR costs like $50,000 dollars, has anyone seen one of these things up close?? i have and i will tell you is not worth that much money. alot of the things on it look really cheap. Car and Driver didnt like it either.

Well I've been pretty bored today so I decided to check out your statement. I ran 3 types of trucks thru chevy and fords sights.

Basic criteria for both brands:

1. Work truck: entry model reg cab long bed few options (though optioned to get close to each other.)

2. avg truck. XLT style ext. cab short bed 2wd

3. FX4 vs Z71 ext. cab s/b

In EVERY case the exact opposite of your statement was true, usually by more than $2K. What kind of trucks were you looking at?

EDIT:Finally got the chevy to be more then the F150. On "everything but the kitchen sink" models (crew cab leather 4x4 etc) the chevy was ~$500 more (though w/ a few options not availalbe on the F). Again , not a chevy guy and I would gladly pay more for the Ford, but...

I just didn't remember this being the case so I had to check.

i priced the super duty against a chevy that was comparable and here in my area thats what i come up to be. i actually went to the lots and looked. the price of the vehicle is not the same in all parts of the the US. thats why they have you enter your zip code in. ofcourse a ford super duty is going to be cheaper for me than someone in cali cause i like one to 2 hours away from the assymbly plant. so shipping is going to be alot cheaper. i remember in 1998 when the GMC Z71 was stickering for over 30,000 and the f150 4x4 off road was goin for about 28,500

Zip codes affects rebates/ discounts, as well as option availability(for emmision reasons). Though sometime they have th "TX/OK" package rarely changing the price much. Not calling you a liar, but your first statement was pretty far off base. MSRP and options are the same throughout (excluding above listed items) from what I understand. You might pay more for a truck in cali. but I don't think it would actually have a different sticker/options price. I thought that everybody paid the same destination charges? No? Correct me if I'm wrong on these things

Destination charges should be about the same accross the board or at least with in a few hundred of each other. However, different brands, and Makers will have different prices.

In cali you have to have an emmisions package. Some dealers charge nothing some charge as much as $1000. I just checked my sticker. I paid $795 for destination charges and the California emmisions package was no charge.

does anyone know why diesel ford trucks and chev trucks for that matter are more expesive in the states. i live in edmonton canada and used to work for gm and wewould have to screen our customers to make sure they werent going to be shipping the truck to the states. apparently these exporters were making 5000 or so CAN shipping just one truck south.why does ford and gm do this?
