Okay, I pulled the "Hot Rod" issue (May 2004). I was off by about a second on each car. The 03 Cobra "with nuthin' but Bassani exhaust and a smaller blower pulley" ran 11.40 at 119 mph. The 02 Z06 with the Magnuson blower ran 11.61 at 121 mph.
I'm not familiar with Magnuson blowers, so maybe they are just poor quality, but that Cobra beat him with very few dollar amounts invested.

first of all you said "A new Cobra with a pulley and a Bassani exhaust goes 12.5. It does it with less displacement, and far lower cost." while this may be true i dont agree that it could beat a blown z06. thats all i was trying to say. and if you want to do comparisons like these throw a lingenfelter twin turbo kit on a z06 and put it against the gt and let me know what happens because the zo6 would still be half the price. lots of money left make it better. sorry for the misunderstanding.
[QUOTE=73Fastbackv10]There is no possible way a Camaro SS could beat a Cobra. Stock Camaro SS is 5.2 seconds to 60. Stock 03 Cobra is 4.6 to 60.
Yeah an '03 Cobra but not the '02. You can't compare an '02 SS to an '03 Cobra. Ford was not arrogant enough to put the power to the Cobra while the Camaro still exhisted. Ford engineers knew that the GM parts bin was extensive and hypothetically an '03 Camaro SS would have even more N/A hp to combat the '03 Cobra. That is not fact, but as history shows the SS was always a step ahead in power compared to the Cobra Mustang. Right or Wrong?? But compare the '02 Cobra and SS and the victor was the SS. End of story.
Put your Z06 against Ford's 2 seater performance car, the GT, and get your booty handed to you.
Whoa whoa whoa... before you go counting your chicks before they hatch Chevy hasn't released the '05 C6 Z06 'Vette. The net is a flurry of rumor that the next Z will be packin an all aluminum 427 BIG BLOCK. Once again N/A and also rumored to be in the neighborhood of 500 horse. I totally dig the GT. Don't get me wrong. Since very few of us have the cash kickin' around to own all three (Z06, Viper, and GT) we'll have to wait until Motor Trend does a head to head to head shootout. Then we can pick our seat and watch the fight unfold!
A lot of the technology used in the next generation Z06 was first tested by the Corvette Le Mans Team (which finished 1-2 at Le Mans). Everything from the carbon fiber hood and rear spoiler to the next powerplant and transmission was brutally tested this year. They may still build '05 Z's and market them as '04 carryovers until the C6 Z is built. GM in my opinion is obligated to build this car. It is the GM flagship and an American icon. They wont let it fall into dismay by trailing the GT or Viper for that matter.
So I'll try to get this slightly back on topic. Anybody have info on the Silverado VHO? Supposed to be a 2wd SS. Pretty much looks like a stock 1500 ext. cab w/ some 20's on it. Can't find any solid info, just saw a commercial for it. The little I did find was just chat on another message board. I'm positive it was VHO.
all the corvett anymore is a luxury sports car. and i stress luxury. the car is so priced out of site your average person cant buy one unlike a mustang GT, aven if it is a couple years old. the vett is not longer anymore what it was supposed to be.
