the case is industrial. is the isuzu u r talkin about the one that came in the earlier S-10's?

With gas being $2+ per gallon, we could combine a deal with the guy in Sherman Texas that rebuilds 70's Cadilacs for people who want BIG cars. This diesel would make one of them get 40 MPG if it wasn't too hard for an old lady to drive.
i doubt it would have much power in a '74 eldo' it would have to be a fleetwood or deville for the rear drive. the front wheelers would be really hard to do.

BTW, what does he do with all the 500's? i like parts. and i love the 500 caddy...

it cant have a brake pedal in my design because one foot controls engine speed and one controls the pump output. how would it work w/ the tranny??

and its hard to mate a tranny to a 188 case diesel just a plate on the bellhousing with a hole in the middle and bolt holes
a flex plate would go on the crank. we could weld up an adapter for the PG bell housing. We would have to machine a button adapter for the transmission snout to the engine crank. This wouldn't be much different than adapting a PG to a ford. A Auto converter place could fabricate the PG converter with lockup. It would be unlocked to start and for passing but locked up for cruise.

It could be done and it would drive like a regular car.

Me too. the 500 Kaddy is one of the greatest engines ever built. Almost as much torque as a diesel!

I think he changes all to small block chevys.

We could probably do a diesel upgrade for the Hummer. I had one behind me today on the highway and he couldn't keep up!

haha... i understand ur perspective now....

PSD, have u ever seen a combine? driven one maybe? how 'bout a johndeere lawnmower? any commercial lawn mower? they are all "hydrostatic". it is just a hydralic variable output pump that is coupled w/ lines to a hydralic motor. the more output on the pump, the faster the motor spins. motor is splined to axles and pump is splined to engine.

I've driven some Pay Loaders! And some big fork lifts! I have been close up with combines, My dad had a Farm Machinery dealership. I just never drove one. They cost too much to let me experiment!

Our lawnmower is a John Deere, and says it on the side...thats what got me to asking. Always wondered how the motor would stay the same speed and you could make it go faster or slower...Thanks for the explanation.

Countdown to getting my beast back...SOON

I bet if i get a new flash on my motor Ill have to send my SCMT back for an update...
