Sorry about putting this in the wrong thread....I think I actually
misphrased my question. I meant it to ask, will the SuperChips
save the flash to a CD like I think the Predator will?

I shouldn't post when tired!

But, I learned a lot more about the 1704. So, when I get
my new PSD in July, I can make a better, more informed decision
on these products. Maybe I'll get both!

Thanks, C-Bob! Maybe you should have answered this for me in
the "other" thread! You-da-man!

The superchips tuner will save the flash within itself, but not on a CD.

Should your tuner get dropped in the lake or run over by a truck, we can send you a tuner that will force the PCM back to stock =o)

Just a thought, while this thread is still friendly......
Let's kep it that way.
If you are a fan of Diablo, a distributor of Diablo, etc...
There is a thread for that.

Both products have their plusses.
The Predator tuner came out first....
The Superchips tune makes more power.
The Predator can allow you to save your stock file on your hard drive.
The Superchips tuner will save your stock file within and allow you to set it back anytime.
The Superchips tuner programs considerably faster and requires less key cycles.
The Diablo tuner has more of a flashy look (looks pretty cool).
The Superchips tuner changes shift points and pressure.
The Predator currently does not change shift points and shift pressure.
Both can check and clear trouble codes....

We could go on forever comparing....but that's up to you guys.

This thread is primariily for bulletins involving the SUPERCHIPS 6.0L product and questions involving the same product. Comparison is ok, but lets keep it friendly and fair. I did the tuning, and this thread makes me more accessible to the consumer and their point of view.
Lets keep that in mind and all be friends here, mmmmmkayyy?

Anyone have any questions about the SUPERCHIPS 1704 ? =o)
so are you saying that the micro tuner will allow you to change shift points and shift pressure in the program or are they preset.

They are preset, but they are changed.
Each program (Tow, Econ, Performance) has a shift program that goes with it.

The Predator currently uses stock shift points (3500 or so)
The Superchips tune with the PERF program shifts near 3900 (and pulls HARD all the way there).

How do you know that the Micro Tuner makes more power? Are you basing your statement from tests that you have done with both products or are you basing your statement on what DiabloSport advertises?

So as far as transmission is concerned, the Micro Tuner and the Predator will both improve shift firmness, but only the Micro Tuner raises the shift rpms?

Actually.....I've (very recently) driven trucks with both installed.
Granted, I've haven't seen the Predator on the dyno or track, but we're definitely making more power on the "butt dyno".
The Predator has a shorter poweband and shifts right at 3500-3600.
The superchips tune pulls harder and longer, to 3900 at each shift with the Performance program.
It simply makes more power and you can feel it.

I don't own a Predator, but I have a friend who has one and I drove his truck.
He removed it, I installed my tune and it was faster, more fun and more drivable.

This is, of course, one truck.

Does the stock ford system have a sensor for EGT that will cut back on power? If so will it work with the programer?
Here is why I ask ... I was driving my stock 6.0 and was racing a guy from light to light. I was holding down on the brake and bringing the RPMs to 1500 and then launching. Well at the 3rd light I had to hold it for a little longer and when I launched it had alot less power. It was down on power for a good 10 min. I figured that the EGT got too high and the stock computer cut back on power. By the way my superchips programer should be here wed. Thanks again Vic.

The stock calibrations are screwy.
Diesels are meant to run CLOSED loop constantly, except in a "failure" situation.
When this happens they drop power like crazy.
A "failure" situation could be triggered by a number of things: a leak to the MAP sensor, excessive coolant temp, slight overboost, etc.....

Stock Lightnings have issues of losing power after doing a burnout in the box.
You'll see many of these guys shut the truck off and restart it at the tree.
Tuning cures this of course, but stock calibrations are just a pain in the butt for reasons like this.
