Superchips 6.0 Microtuner Thread
I never drive my truck that fast and I wonder what the impact would be if I were by some chance involved in an accident and the various parties found that I had "modified the truck to remove the top speed limiter".
I would want the increased power for towing and general driveability but would really drive any faster than I do now. That said, general traffic flow of 85 to 90 MPH on CA freeways is not unheard of.

It's against the law to go above the posted speed limit, even in Cali
So if you got into a wreck while doing 'traffic flow speeds', you'd still be at fault...
I also have an 04 with 03 engine built on Aug 29th. If you got the October flash, ignore the number on the side of the PCM. My dealer didn't even put a flash sticker on anywhere when he upgraded me to the October flash.
I had more power and 3 mpg better fuel mileage with the Aug flash that came with the truck so you can bet I'll be ordering a Superchips if the reviews are good!
Would you suggest a break in period before tuning with Superchip?

(You will never hit it)
I was going 130 in a stock powerstroke with tuning (and some room to go)
Another has been to the 140 mark.
I will NOT specify whether this was on the track or street....just make sure your tires have the correct speed rating and you do this on a test track if you intend to go that fast
It's a hub/clutch setup with no bands and they are STRONG.
All the 7.3 guys should be jealous of this tranny =o)
I haven't broken one yet, and I've had them over 700 ft lbs at the tire and not being particularly gentle with them.
As with anything else....use your head.
Don't powerbrake it at every stoplight...... =o)

The drive train is TOUGH....especially the tranny.

This is one issue with stock vs modified....it won't light em up much stock if you just mat it, but after the tune it takes some tactic to get a consistent 60' because you get too much wheelspin.
It'll take some practice but you'll get used to it.
Often times even if you ease into it and mat it when you have traction, you lose it again when you build full boost.

But were one to be involved in an accident while driving at normal legal speeds, and the liars for the opposing party found out that the vehicle had been modified, and that the speed limiter had been removed, I would think that they would use this to stir the pot to maximum extent possible against you. In a civil case, who knows what a jury would think about all that.

I meant to say that I don't drive that fast now and would NOT drive faster with the tuner mods installed. I would rather not have the speed limiter disabled or moved to a higher limit.
It is highly unlikely that I would ever exceed 90 MPH in the truck under any circumstances. I want the extra power to tow my trailer and for general driveability.
I used to roadrace motorcycles as a hobby and still do track days regularly - hence the toyhauler trailer. If I have a need for speed I take my bike to the track and do 160 MPH there. Nothing like dragging your knee around a turn at 140+ MPH!
After that, putting around in a big clanker of a truck no matter how pumped up by a tuner seems rather anti-climatic ;-)
See my web site at http://www.trackcam.com for on track video - including a practice crash or two . . .

No one is going to know it's raised but you.
