Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Started out at 20 this morning and is now up to 23. Clear sky so the rain followed by rain snow mix they were talking about isn't going to start in anytime soon.
Pond is still frozen.
Have to go to Alpha Monday afternoon. Hope to come back up here no later than Thursday. Chris, if you and Rene want to do some sightseeing while you are on vacation, the guest room is made up. We should be back here Wednesday or Thursday thru the following Monday.
Morning all. Nice day yesterday. So nice I transplanted some seedlings I've been nursing, mowed the "lawn", and detailed the inside of my truck and heep. All in shorts and a tshirt. It was 67 degrees according to my weather station. Was outside from 9 until almost 6. Hoping today is similar but we are starting out with fog.
My weather station said we got up to 67 yesterday. I don't think I believe it. I think the sun must be at the right angle now to shine pretty much directly on the probe. I'm going to move it to the NW deck where I can keep it pretty well out of direct sunlight all day.
Certainly, was not shorts and T-Shirt inviting. Where I got it plowed and the used the snowblower though has melted down to bare pavement / cement. A few patches of hard ice yet but it is thawing out. Was thinking about getting a pickup and a car washed today, but first I have to go look at rescue puppy dogs. She is kind of eyeballing an Australian Cattle Dog Mix at the Bend Shelter. I told her that was a waste because there was no way we were getting an Australian cow. She still insists at going to see it. There is no such thing as her just "seeing". Unless it bites her, I'm afraid it will be coming home with us. Maybe if we had a flat tire on the way??????
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 32 and it has been snowing heavily. Just now slacking off to a light snow shower.
Went to Bend to the HSCO rescue shelter. i do believe the Australian Cattle Dog is most likely a Texas Cattle Dog - Heeler. A couple of the assistants at the HSCO agreed as did our vet that we stopped to see on the way home.
We got there and did the meet and greet. The "timid" little dog that was going to take time to warm up to people licked my hand and crawled in my lap and started giving both of us the "You are taking me home aren't you" drooping puppy dog eyes looks. Lead her out to the exercise yard at the shelter and she led great, was very playful and didn't seem shy or timid at all. Ears up, sharp eyed, attentive and inquisitive. So, after 10 minutes I left the dog with the Warden and went to the car and got Snoopy out. Brought him over and it was an instant hit. They got along great (she's 12 mo. and he's 10 months) and it was instant puppy play time.
So, we filled out the paperwork and the little rascal came home with us. She came bouncing out of the building and jumped into the back of the car before I had finished opening up the car door. After stopping at the gas station, she crawled up front into the Warden's lap and that's where she rode, looking out the window, just about all the way home.
Passed out after a play session.....Peace and quite!
After a bit of an incident around noon today, the new pup was very fittingly assigned a name by the Warden. She decreed that from this day forward the ACD will be known as "CALAMITY JANE".

Don't even want to think about the taxes yet Chris. I think I've got everything gathered that we need, but...We still have a messed up situation with the IRS not properly crediting our advanced tax payments going on from last year.
Jim, we came out better than we thought we would. Owe the federal taxes (paid) getting money back from state but with paying for tax prep we're in the hole some.
