Yep, OFF means truck is NOT in active regen mode.

DPF SL is the soot load percentage the truck reads. When the truck is "FULL," it's not really 100% full. If the filter was completely loaded and "full," there would be CELs and drivability problems most likely requiring a OCR or manual regen to get the filter cleaned. A fellow user here, who has more knowledge of this than me, explained in more detail in the past how the truck reads the soot load %.

What's nice IMO in being able to know and watch when the truck is in active regen mode is allowing the truck to idle if you arrive at your destination prior to completion, to let it idle to shut off the regen so those injectors are not still under pressure dripping fuel so that it makes it past the rings into the oil, to watch EGT1 to allow it to it to cool down to 400 degrees or more as that's the turbo temp, to watch EGT4 and allow it to cool down because you'll see temps over 1000 degrees during an extended active regen and shutting off the truck with the filter substrate that hot can bad -- it could crack without being cooled down.

Dpf_rg is a percentage reading

When that hits 100% it will regen.

I have a 3rd screen but don't use it... I'm probably going to either change it or remove it because when I hit the "back" button on the right to get to the regen screen (red in color on mine), it goes to that one I don't use, then I have to scroll by it to get to the regen screen... if I change things, I'll take pics to post up.

Chad has more screens set up... let me see if I can find his posts in the iDash thread and post them here for you..

And like Scott says, when the truck goes FULL (truck reads the soot load % as 100%), it goes into regen. So truck goes from 95 to FULL... it doesn't say 100%. Do you have your soot load percentage screen, the third one that's a "ghost" screen from the factory if it's not enabled, enabled?

Here's a link to a video that Chad posted:

No, it has nothing to do with the iDash... it's the third screen that from the factory is blank, hence the ghost term. It can be enabled on 11 to 16 trucks by the factory or by the use of software called FORscan, which can do what the Ford factory software program, IDS, can do... I believe...

When it's enabled, it creates a fourth blank screen as the former blank third screen becomes your DPF soot load percentage readout. It goes up when driving in increments of 5% and when in active regen, goes down in 5% increments.

And when it goes from 95% to FULL, it will trigger a regen, unless you pulling a load and EGT4 is hot enough to passively burn the ash in the filter, then when you reach 500 or whatever miles which then triggers an active regen by the mileage instead of the filter going "FULL."

Here's the link that pic came from I believe...

Got it. That would sure be a nice feature to have....how hard would it have been to do that on our trucks. LOL. Appreciate it.
I'm sure more questions to follow. Right now I will just keep the one screen. Mount should be here in a few days.

Found a thread here on how to do it with FORscan. Or you can go to a dealer and they can enable it also.

Drove up to the office, about 5 minutes and the Idash never turned on.
I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it came on, is there a setting I missed?
Thanks

Sometimes just a tap of one of the buttons will wake it up.
There is a setting to adjust it

If it doesn't wake up when after you start the engine, then try setting the sensitivity lower. It's in the Settings page, IIRC. I initially had the same issue, but lowered the sensitivity one level and works flawlessly every startup now.

There's a iDash thread here on this Diesel 6.7 forum that discusses it and other iDash topics.

Found some relevant threads for ya:

I believe I took pics on how to get to that to change it... I'll see if I can find my post. But this has happened to me also.. not a big deal at all.. just have to set the Sensitivity to HIGH.

I think I found it:

Scroll down a bit to see the answer to setting sensitivity.
