Well, younger sister won - the old homestead farm and ranch from the 1850's is now all gone. Kind of feel lost now. Certainly, feels strange not having that in the background as a security blanket or a place to kick back along the creek and relax. No more duck pond, cows or horses - at least for now.
Strangely, when I was out there yesterday afternoon and evening, I couldn't find any of our saddles or my tack. Dear sister says she hasn't seen them?
anyone know why Detroit dam is kept so low? Was a sad little trip up the hill for work. Lots of burned out homes still not rebuilt with owners in a RV.

May be for maintenance reasons and / or just compensating for the extra snow pack that will be coming down the mountain.
If you go into the Mongold Day Use area, at the east (upstream) end of the boat ramp parking lot there is a road that goes down the hill under the swimming - play area. I could be wrong, but I'm thinking the lake could be low enough that if you go down off the end of that road you will be able to find and see foundations from the original town of Detroit. We were down there poking around a few years ago.
