I’ve been looking into this because I don’t really want another damn subscription in my life, I’m wondering if there’s any way to remove navigation from the sync 4 unit all together once the subscription runs out ? I’ll just switch to using waze when I need It. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this .

I doubt it. My understanding is that once it runs out, it turns into a dumb moving map with no normal navigation features. Ford really pulled a fast one on people in this case! Many are not gonna be happy!

thats my understanding also, just seems super pointless to me! I can understand taking away the traffic and weather stuff but basically rendering them useless is lame !

Without the subscription, isn't this just like what we've had before. Regular NAV, but without traffic unless you subscribe to SIRIUS XM or something like that? Or is it worse?

my understanding is you won’t even be able to search an address

I don't have a subscription on my 19. Can still use NAV. It still sucks though. Can't find it's *** with both hands. Look up the address of something in Google first, then find a light to get stuck at or pull off the road to type the address from Google into NAV. Then half the time, still can't find it.

This whole fiasco seems to have started with Sync4.
Why would you even want to fool with removing it???
All you would have to do is ignore it.
I'd like to add the embedded nav that the KR and higher trims get, so I don't have to fool with my phone or a subscription.

FYSA, the built-in nav, which I need since I'm off the beaten path quite a bit with no cellular service, is only available in Platinum and Limited trims, per the 2022 Order Guide. Lariat and King Ranch only get the "Connected Nav," which uses your own cellular data.
Ford (all truck mfr's, actually) has already proven they can charge whatever they want for a truck, so why not make built-in nav available in all trims? What a scam.

This is incorrect. The NAV on a Lariat is the same as it is on the Platinum trucks. The only difference is the subscription length that Ford includes for free with the vehicle purchase. To date if you buy a Plat/Limited Ford includes a 4 or 5 year subscription. This is in contrast to the 90 day “trial” you get with a Lariat. Built in only refers to the included subscription.
