That's such BS. Just p1$$3$ me off. You spent a crap load of cash on that truck and they pull this. Makes me want to keep my 2018 Lariat forever. Lots of ill will being generated.
My 90 days will expire in a month on my 2022 KR. Guess I'll pull out my trusty ol' "free lifetime maps" Garmin and update maps beforehand. Sounds like the old Sync3 in my 2017 KR was better than this crap.

I don’t know if they read these threads, but you better watch it Ford. Don’t make this my last Ford.

They probably do glance at and are aware of threads about Navigation... and what they have seen the last few years is:
"Ford Navigation sucks, I just use Google"
"Carplay and Waze is better, why have Ford nav?"
And it goes on and on with a lot of complaining... so Ford does a subscription service for those that actually want Ford Nav. Does it suck? Yea, but enough complaints and nit picking is what brought it to this point. I like the Ford Navigation, had it in my 2016 F-150 and also in my 2019 F-250. Is it perfect? No, it does some funky routes. Is the update process fun? Not in the least, way more complicated than they make it out to be. However, I camp and offroad in the middle of nowhere and the navigation is great and trumps Google offline maps. And that's important to me.

But, you have a 2019 with embedded navigation, not a 2022 SYNC 4 with Connected Navigation, very different animals.

Just saying Ford changed their strategy because of the nit picking and complaining. Now guys are complaining about the new system. Ford doesn't win either way.

No, I think this is strictly a money ploy. I need SatNav for the same reasons as most do. I can't always trust my phone were I go. GM is going with Google, so we'll see if they charge for SatNav next year.

$80 a year is cheaper than those with Sync 3 that had to pay for map updates.

I never considered an update. The remote places never change, and anything new will work on the phone. Why update. It's about getting more money. $80K wasn't enough I guess.
Called Ford's customer service number this evening. While waiting, I was asked to hang on the line after the representative hangs up in order to answer a few survey questions. Well, the connection dropped before any such survey began. It might have to do with me saying that getting no navigation unless I pay an annual fee is totally unsat. I also asked if there was any way I could have Sync4 removed and Sync3 installed ... nope. My Chevy and Ram buddies are going to get a chuckle seeing my Garmin Nuvi sitting on my dashboard above the soon to be useless 12" screen. I should've kept my 2017 King Ranch.
I will be sending written communication to Ford about my displeasure. If anyone else wants to do likewise, here's the snail-mail address ...

After several Ford vehicles, it may be time for me to revisit Toyota and also check out what Nissan offers. My F250 is more truck than I really need.

Other than a couple Garmin units, I never update maps because towns don't move. Roads may get updated, but their route numbers usually remain intact.
This needs to be clearly made aware of when ordering or buying off the lot. This was one of the deciding factors for upgrading to a lariat. Then to find out it’s a subscription service and is only 3 months is unreal in a 70k truck. A year trail should be the minimum I would think. Add me to the unhappy customer list.
