This is incorrect. The NAV on a Lariat is the same as it is on the Platinum trucks. The only difference is the subscription length that Ford includes for free with the vehicle purchase. To date if you buy a Plat/Limited Ford includes a 4 or 5 year subscription. This is in contrast to the 90 day “trial” you get with a Lariat. Built in only refers to the included subscription.
I'll have to do some diggin to find where I read it but that is not how it was described. Conected with Built in Nav (Platinum and Limited) was described just like it sounds, having Conected navigation which is cloud based requiring a paid subscription after the trial runs out, but if no subscription is renewed the Built in, embedded navigation, can be used. Whereas the King Ranch and bellow do not have the built in, so without the subscription lose navigation ability. Showing just a map.

With all the technology..there should be a way to tie the built in modem to Verizon or whatever carrier you have. I have not turned my modem back on, because I use Verizon for cell. And don't want another service with another cell carrier. Surely there is a way.
I like my nav system and only used android app once . I found it confusing on setting routes vice what Google thinks is best
I have sync 3 and maps seem to update when sync did last. But.. We have to find a way to use our own carrier
In the link that was given, there were two different options. One was a 3yr and the other was a 90 day. Just curious what levels of trim get what. Going to be a joke if people are purchasing $60k+ trucks and only get 90 days of navigation.
pretty sure all the 2022 are sync 4 and 2021 are sync 3
from what i have read.
For 2022 the 8" screen still comes with Sync 3, 12" gets Sync 4....there are two types of navigation that can come with Sync 4, determined by trim. Now I'm curious what nav option the Sync 3 trucks get, if any for 2022.

It's been mentioned in this thread a couple of times, see post #14.
SYNC 4 with 12" screen in Lariat and higher trim, SYNC 3 and 8" screen available in XLT and XL, but no NAV available in XL I don't believe.
90 day connected NAV subscription in Lariat and KR.
adds even more confusion
but still can we unlock the built in modem to run off another carriers service?
i like my sync 3 with the live internet that redirects around traffic and stuff. android auto for me is overbearing but i guess i may have to learn it

Your post indicates this was at one time possible. Why do you think that is true.

I'm a little confused by this as well... with the Sync3, the only service that requires the At&T carrier is the wifi hotspot. How does that play into the navigation?
