I took full advantage of not being at a show this weekend and went to the lake with the girls. I just sat and listened to the waves for a while and then floated in the lake for a while. ...I really needed that. Back to work today, though. I have bumpers to build, then I have to register Tiff's car, then make an appointment to get the hauler serviced. It's cheaper to let someone do it for me, than buy all the filters and do it myself, so someone else can figure out what to do with 10 gallons of waste oil. (I want the engine AND trans fluid changed this time)
Boating was nice yesterday and the kids jet skied circles around us in the boat. The Golden Eagle ferry was running strong but strangely didn't see in Tows in the Mighty Mississippi.
Mowed the whole place (3.8 acres) and then fixed supper.
I'm heading to the bodyshop (My 56 F-100) and try to figure out some wiring. Installed a EZ 21 harness and when I wired in the electric fuel pump it wouldn't turn on. Runs on a Hotwire so I'll have to see if I can find the problem.
I got our back door replaced today. We went from an antique half light, to a modern full light door. I hope to notice an energy savings since the door we put in is an ACTUAL exterior door. (the old door was not) Now we need to shop for, or build a screen door for it. The dogs are diggin' the fact they can now look out the back door.
Rich, yes it is a gas excursion. I don't really need the diesel or the maintenance that comes with it. I will spend a small fortune in gas but the lower maintenance costs should offset that. And the gas ones are cheaper from the start, so I'm saving money all over the place. More to spend on the small things it needs and save up for when the tranny blows up. James
Rich did you ever get the axle back in your Bronco?
Well after sending them back to Wild Horses 4X4 in California (on their shipping dime), they put the correct ends on and shipped them back air freight fast mail. While I was waiting I wanted the Bronco to at least be mobile, so I built a replacement dvrs ide stock front axle from spare parts. Learned that I had to grind on the splines on that set up too. But at least I got the Bronco mobile so I could center it up in the workport and can now do both sides at the same time. And while I was waiting and inspecting I noticed a upper dvrs side ball joint that needs replaced, it's always something. But I do not want to break that down the road and trash my new axles as the entire wheel/tire/rotor/hub come flying off. So going to order some HD ones and do a top and ball joint replacement and upgrade at the same time. Do you have any quality ball joint #'s? I believe Spicer OEM's are pretty good? Not getting no cheap chiny junk.
How are your projects going?
James are you planning on the trany blowing up already? As long as it has no current issues, had proper maint done (possibly) and is in good working order now. Do not plan on it blowing up, just plan on driving it. Besides you are not towing a excavator or D9 dozer on a daily basis?

The only problem the 4R100s have is the front seal popping out after very heavy use. Like, if you happen to tow heavy stuff a lot, the front seal will fail. If you don't plan on doing that, the trans will hold up just fine.
Rich and Alan, I'm not planning on it failing, but its at 250,000 which I understand as the expected service life in these. I will drive it till it goes. I have the car fax and it was serviced at the delaer I bought it from most of its life, having only 2 owners before me. Had the tyranny service done at 150,000 if I recall correctly, so time again. And no I won't be towing any dozers but do hope to tow lots of landscaping paraphernalia and hopefully some tractor implements and automotive toys home! Oh, and I will be selling the highboy now that I have something else in the driveway to maintain. Just can't keep it any longer and not do anything with it. And the wife is tired of the car lot we have going here.....
There are some heavy duty ball joints but all seem to be for a jeep 44. I would go with the dana spicers also.
As far as my projects. the bathroom downstairs is coming along. putting the interior walls in the bathroom now. Doing 1 x 8 Nickle gap siding instead of sheetrock. I hate Sheetrock!!!!
As far as vehicle projects, On the last legs to get my son's mustang out of the shop. finishing up the carb tuning now. My wife doesn't give me much shop time with the bathroom project going on.
Well, I found a problem with the full length glass in the new back door already. I had the kitchen lights on tonight and the dog started freaking out, so I went to see what was going on and she was barking at her own reflection in the new door. .....dumb dog. I guess we'll have to put some curtains on there somehow. *SMH
