I'm watching my brisket on the smoker from the comfort of my desk. Brisket went on at 5 pm. It should finish around 11 am to 1 pm tomorrow. The target temp is just until morning when I'll crank up the cook temp to around 235° F to get to a meat temp of just over 200° F.
Damn Jim, that's high tech there. Do you have an electric smoker? Interested in knowing how that works.
I know you like the ATC trailers, as do I, but my dealer sells Sundowner trailers also. Have you looked at them? They are all aluminum and their specialty is horse trailers, but they make toy haulers also. They are gooseneck and bumper pull. 3 year hitch to bumper warranty and 8 year structural warranty. According to my dealer they (Sundowner) are highly customizable and they are open to giving you, the buyer, exactly what you want. Check 'em out. Let us know how that brisket turns out. Happy 4th!
I have a Big Green Egg. The monitoring software also has a fan that pushes air into the smoker to keep the temperatures adjusted where I want them. The software/hardware is several years old and has been replaced by the vendor with a newer model. I'm OK with what I have, but some of the newer stuff is pretty slick.
So this means that sport picks your interest.....Fill us in dude!!
ForCal vexes me. I know there's something there. Something.....edgy. I'm serious. I'm not being a smartazz about it
Sorry, I got sucked into the Mount Rushmore event. Nothing edgy but I do like some wheeling, recreational. In these parts its slow, trail and rock type wheeling. If I was ballin I would probably pick up a pro built buggy, maybe a used Ultra4 type rig, but I'm not lol.
Yeah, that Dealer thread is tough, I'm having a hard time feeling sorry for her cause I haven't heard anything that bad. After finding out its a female I have tried to use some restraint in my wording, not only in that thread but others before that.
I think she was one of the once and done visitors to this thread before. Just like hindy and *****.
You have a nice place Bow. Very nice. I see puppy who was with you that fire alarm night. He photo bombs well!!!!
Thank you, Sir. That dog goes just about everywhere with us when we go overnight. Wyoming, Colorado, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia, Texas and more. She's not going to take anybody down but I can pretty much guarantee no one will sneak up on us. Even when she's sleeping her ears are perked up.

I looked into Sundowner. It's not what I'm looking for. Did I mention that I looked at a trailer today? A friend is selling his 2008 Keystone Raptor. It's in good shape, but the generator isn't running. But it's a heavy pig compared to the ATC trailers. The thing that's keeping me from buying ATC is the lack of a four season option. Maybe I'll end up with an Arctic Fox fifth wheel.

Arctic Fox is very popular up here. Nothing but good reviews from people I know that have them.

Is anything truly "4 seasons" up there where you live, let alone the great frozen north where Teddy lives. Down here all you need is 1-1/2 seasons, summer and feels like summer, except for two or three cold snaps. You guys on the other hand stay below freezing for extended periods of time. Would one of those 4 season units really keep you warm and the turd tanks and water lines from freezing? Would the furnace have to run 24/7? Just curious as to if that was really doable.
My open range states in -10*f, it will keep the cabin at 68* and the tanks at 55* for 6 hrs. Or something like that. I would sure hate to see what happens in the 7th hour.
Ive stayed in mine with temps -20C at night and about -5C in the day and the trailer did great. I have a fireplace, a small tent heater for the bedroom and an aux heater to help the fireplace. Big area in the living room with opposing slides. Furnace would kick in every 20min to heat the tanks. I have a raised shower so all my plumbing traps and lines are inside the cabin which helps. The fireplace isn’t high output so I used the aux heater which looks like a box. Finding the right combination to make sure your furnace kicks in every 20min to heat the enclosed underbelly is the key to success.
Now for the tricky part. Getting water. 99% of parks don’t have their supply lines buried below the frost line of about 6-8ft so they shut the water off. I’ve only stayed at one place that did and they had heat tape wrapped around the supply line where it came above ground. To get water delivered, I had to pay a water company $60 per fill. I have an 80gal holding tank so it lasts myself a week.
I used about 10lbs of propane a day.
The couch and chairs have a chill to them because they are in slide outs but overall, it’s pretty comfortable. Now if it didn’t get up past -10 in the daytime, I would be worried. -25 lows with -10 highs is the line I use.
I know guys that insulate all their windows with that shiny silver insulation and skirt around the bottom of the campers and put a heater underneath. Those guys stay year round in -20 to -40C. They are insane.
This concludes Winter Camping With Teddy.
Oh, an artic fox would be way better than my trailer.
To say my current trailer is three season is a stretch. I insulated my fresh water tank and have a skirt. The windows are single pane and the rest on the insulation isn't so great. But I've had it down to 8° F during hunting season in November.
