Oh no. That’s going to be a big bill. I don’t get how people do that. One of my dads fleet trucks had that happen. The gas attendant filled his ford up with gas and luckily the truck driver noticed it saying gas on the receipt before he started the truck. Gas station paid for all towing and repairs. They didn’t fight it at all.
For sure! That's what is keeping me on edge plus my wife has a few health issues and both parents are 80+.
My wife is a bad asthmatic - really bad. With my daughter going back to work in the past few days, the stress level is over the top.
On the other hand, I work in IT being a consultant, and all work is remote to begin with. Now if I didn't have to go out and get beer, I'd probably be just fine...

Well, this d/a panicked and drove off - just got the facts straight. Had to have drove at least 50 miles to finish his deliveries and get back here. What I don't get is how it's still running. Waiting on the flat bed now. One part of me wants to fire his *** right now but the other part tells me he's been really reliable and he doesn't really have a life outside of work so he never complains about working late or taking the truck and trailer home when it's mutually beneficial for both parties. That and the fact that it would be yours truly replacing him until we could get another driver in and somewhat trained. I just got some good news on the grading and stabilization on the acre I bought next door and I'm pretty sure the money saved from the initial estimate will go towards fixing this truck. This truck has 210k on the clock and has been really reliable. Nothing but routine maintenance and the typical replacement items that occur with time and mileage. Dammit!
Why was his panicked reaction to drive it, knowing he just put gas in it?
Don't know. He really doesn't know. He admitted such. He's not too smart, really, but he's a machine and like I said above, he doesn't have a life really so he doesn't mind working lots of hours. Fight or flight maybe?
At least he told you when he got back. I’ve had employees just hide damaged equipment from me and then act dumbfounded when I asked about it. No choice but to let a guy go when they don’t take responsibility for their actions. Sounds like you have a mutually beneficial relationship with this guy.

I had a similar thing happen, by my own design. Having just started driving a box truck for my brother-in-law, I managed to crush the upper right front corner of the box against a tree branch, on my first day driving alone.
Trust me, I always got in that truck after that knowing I had to live up to a better standard.
The guy you have, might be the same thing. See how things go
Ok.........BowtieConvert lost his religion. Man i hate that for you......feel sorry for that dude, he'll never live that down. Had a guy fill up a bobcat with kerosene once at the golf course. They fired him. No it wasn't me. I did run kerosene in my 7.3 though.

He feels really bad. I'm not gonna fire him, he'd be hard to replace really. Aside from dropping off the wrong materials a couple of times when he was still green, he's been solid. just waiting for the assessment. Glad tomorrow's Friday. I'm sure I will need a few cold ones to help with the grief.

If he'd done that he would be gone in a heartbeat. He's driving the 550 now. Let that thing beat the hell out of him for a week or so and he'll treat that 3500 like it was his kid.
