I need to get a shifter for my1956 F100. It has a C6 transmission. I've looked at what Lokar offers. They look a little more period correct but lever length, trans mount, floor mount, cable operated, linkage operated gets to be a little confusing for what combination will fit the best. I've also looked at the light truck shifter Hurst offers, the Pro-matic 2. It obviously doesn't look period correct but would probably be the easiest installation. Cost is about the same regardless. Either way, a cable setup seems like it would be the best option. Has anybody here used either a Lokar or some other aftermarket shifter in their F100? If so what combination and how did it fit?
I have the lokar trans mount in my 55 f-100 bench seat. I has numerous adjustment settings. I bought the long handle and just got done hooking up the neutral safety switch on it . I am happy with it but one thing that I wish it had was a detente for each gear I should say each forward gear. Lokar say's that the trans internal detentes are okay but I would still like to have one in the shifter itself. I like the long and s curved handle. Good luck
In my panel I used a 12 inch Lokar cable drive shift lever because of the console
On my pickup I intended to make a console as well and bought a 16 inch cable drive shift lever
but changed my mind on the console...
Although it worked fine I decided to change out the stick to a double bend 23 inch
Lokar 16 inch looks great in our trucks . Make sure you know if bench or bucket seats.
It has the original bench seat. Does that mean Lokar's handle for bench seats is the only style they offer that fits? For Lokar shifters I kind of prefer the look of their single bend handles.

I've wondered about the detent feature of the Lokar shifters. A feature I like about the Hurst Pro-Matic 2 truck shifter is its ratchet and lockout features ensure you cannot accidentally move it into the wrong gear. I guess ideally would be if Lokar offered something with some of the features found on the Hurst shifter.
