Had to use shorter axle shafts so the brakes would line up properly. Will need to use a 1” spacer for the wheels.
Plenty of clearance for my 15” wheels.
Fabricated a mounting tab for the rear brake hose.
Has room for hose to flex and keeps everything out of the way.
Test fitting the beds
It will all be back together soon. Just need to run brake lines and have my transmission arrive so I can set up the engine mounts.
i plan on switching to bench seat at some point.
This is how it came out of the spare parts bin.
After about 20 mins of work in the media blasting cabinet.
Fresh coat of VHT chassis paint.
On another note, if you plan to run dual exhaust over the rear axle, will your rear axle brake hose interfere? The stock brake hose interferes and your is close to the stock location.

He started his project about 6 months ahead of me and had similar body condition but fully functional running gear. Did all of the body and paint work himself.
First pic is from when I helped him install the grille and front sheet metal about a month ago. You guys can imagine my shock when this thing showed up in my driveway today.
Anyway, it is fun to have someone else in town building at the same time but I was hoping to be the one driving over to his place in my truck first!
This was about a month ago and is a better representation of the color.
Has the 235 and it was purring. Interesting how grey the paint looks at night.
A second set of hands around here would certainly be welcome! I have a couple of guys (including this guy) that come over and help with the big stuff like cab and engine install. Makes all the difference.
So far I have painted my wheels, started running brake lines, and installed a shift kit in my AOD trans.
I’m in a holding pattern until my heads show up for my 302. I was going to put the 390 with a c6 I ordered from one of the big trans shops. A few months in and I was tired of the “3 more weeks and it will be done” response, so I cancelled the order. Instead I decided to finish up my rebuilt 302 short block with AFR 165 heads. Once they get here I’ll have the engine shop I work with give the valves the once over and get to work building the top end. The AOD I have has 60k miles on it but it’s been sitting in a garage for many years. I don’t know it’s exact condition but it was operational when pulled and the fluid looked great today. So I’ll give it a shot.
Wheels in the spray booth getting a few coats of Wimbledon white and clear coat.
I added trim rings and hub caps off of a t-bird
Using my chain hoist as a transmission stand worked out pretty good.
Valve body on the bench getting cleaned up and a b&m shift kit installed.
Everything back in place with new gaskets and seals.
