My Seahawks lost yesterday but I’m still in the mood to do some playoff tailgating. Games are on in the garage and wings and burgers on the grill this afternoon! Go any team that isn’t the Rams!

The truck and the food look great! Happy New Year and thanks for sharing your pictures with us. Hopefully you'll be driving it soon,
Ken.
My hugger bumper mounts came in from Mid-Fifty over the weekend so I was happy to have a simple little Monday project. Nope.
My bumper is apparently off of a ‘70s truck and the mounting holes are further out from the center than on my truck. I’ll eventually buy new bumpers but when I do that I want to get chrome ones and a chrome grille. So for now, I improvised and cut 3 7/8” out off the center of the bumper and welded it back together. I’ll strip it and ad filler and paint it properly this spring.
I used angle iron to keep everything straight. Tack welded the one piece to the front of the bumper and clamped the other to the top edge. Checking for symmetry before cutting the tack welds on the angle iron so I can finish welding the center and back. Welds all ground Down and ready for test fit Bumper tucked up in there nicely. I am looking forward to seeing it with the bed on. Here is the piece I pulled out of the middle.
I haven’t posted in a while as I’ve been stuck while waiting for parts.
A bunch of stuff came in this week, including the heads for my motor.
I’ll finally be able to assemble the 302 this weekend and get moving on the project again!
I went with AFR 165 aluminum heads that should flow really well. The bench is filling up with goodies for the build. Hydraulic lifters are soaking in some oil. Rebuilt 1989 roller motor short block with cam and timing set installed. Scorpion 1.6 stud mount roller rockers.
Nice pile of parts you got there! Do you think you will have any issues with those heads and no valve reliefs in the pistons? That's going to be a nice motor when you are done.

Thanks!
The valve clearance is good. These are the baby heads from AFR that are designed to work with stock pistons.
Great, Just wondering as most stock 302's had valve reliefs, Those pistons look like crown vic or thunderbird style, I had heard most heads did not work with them. I have gt40 turbo heads on my 331 stroker and they needed some pretty big reliefs with the cam I am using. You should be very happy with that combo.

JMHO, but just because someone says they're designed to work together doesn't always guarantee it will work for you. It's always good to do your own independent investigation to ensure you don't have a clearance issue. I bit of clay on the piston tops and a rotation of the crank a time or two after the heads are on might be prudent. Just to be on the safe side.

Great advise and it is how I know the clearance is good.
