Another cellphone mount option

I wonder how hard it would be to relocate the USB that has the data connection to the sync 3 unit to the location OP has his charging, and then put a regular 12 volt charging outlet in place of the OEM sync 3 hookup.

This is discussed at length earlier in this thread around post 69. As others have stated ports will not work unless you push the ports through your center console and get an extension cable, which I ultimately did. Some recommended parts around post 69.
you could also potentially relocate the entire set of USB ports but I chose not to. One goes to my center tray and the other goes by cable to my left mount for my cellphone, which I use most often.

so true and not true.
I dont need a phone to make calls , nav, texts, etc since it all can be done thru the ford software.
but, sometimes i need to see forscan or ODBII wiz bang software and having a mount to monitor select guages at eye level make it easy.
my goal is to mount a mini ipad for select guage use.
