Another cellphone mount option

Figured I’d throw this out there. Did some truck work this weekend and got around to a left hand mount for my cellphone. I had the idea a few months back and had the parts but only got around to truck projects this weekend.

Ram makes bolt through ***** designed for motorcycle triple clamps. If you remove the Jesus-handle bolts they are M6x1.00. Bought a longer bolt and a few washers and walla! No-cut A-pillar ram mount.

This is a wireless charger with a lightning cable hanging below going back to the center console for when I want to use CarPlay. For anyone interested in CarPlay all the time I’d highly recommend the Proclip phone holder. If you want to plug in to CarPlay every time their phone holder can’t be beat. The built right bracket and this ram mount I’m showing are better than the Proclip mount, but their holder can’t be beat.

And in case anyone was wondering about the other location....

Like your power point setup in the center dash tray, haven't done mine yet. Is there plenty of clearance below the tray for the wiring? Would you provide links to the power points you used? Thanks.

note - I disassembled and removed the lcd so it wouldn’t shine light on the dash. I would consider just doing cigarette liter sockets and using plug in adapters - that’s worked fine.

cigarette plugs:

they are lighted, but the light is blocked with the cover or when something is plugged in, so has not been an issue. I’d also consider finding one that isn’t lighted instead.

There is room but not a ton. You will need to put the ports all of the way to the back to clear the metal brace in the picture. If you want breathing room, consider just two ports instead of three.

Great write up and thank you for the links. I'm saving these and will look into them in the VERY near future. I was hoping to find something like this.

Where do you obtain the M6x1.00 bolt and when you say "longer," how much longer?

Section179, Thanks for the links and the underside pictures, that helped a lot.

Any chance you remember which fuse you tied into?

Lowes, 35mm. You could get a couple sizes depending on how many washers you plan to stack.

I tied into the heated steering wheel fuse (switched to ignition) with an add-a-fuse. Can’t remember which # - it’s in the manual. Folks on the forum without heated steering wheel have reported the fuse is there anyway.

Use a magnetic mount

Still works for wireless charging

Ran a USB cable from the front storage drawer, through and into center console. Sliding door always stays closed now. Android auto. All the time!

What mount and radar detector are you using, that's a clean set up.

Thats a Uniden R3 with a poorman’s blend mount (blend mount is the premium mirror mount... that’s a knock-off available here):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0788XRBTV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0788XRBTV/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I just swapped the Uniden out for the newly released Uniden R7 which has a few more features. The R3 and R7 are the most sensitive (long range) detectors on the market. They are not as user friendly though as some other units like the escort max360c. After fumbling through the learning curve and figuring out what was common in my area I’m really in love with the Uniden. It gives me fantastic advanced warning.

They’re not cheap unfortunately.

I’m not all that fast but I really value an early warning. The Uniden r3 that just had a price drop with the introduction of the r7 is a great detector. I’d recommend filtering k and x band and using it for Ka, laser, and stoplight cams.
