Holly distracted driver ticket batman!!!
Guess you don't have them down there?
A lady in BC got a ticket for having her phone in her cup holder....let alone anything like that.

"The fine for a distracted driving ticket is $368, along with four driver penalty points that will be applied to the driver's record. First-time violators must pay an extra Insurance Corporation of B.C. penalty fee of $210 for a total of $578."

The only way to use a cell phone in wa state is hands free. Only thing we can do is start an app with the use of one finger/swipe. $136 fine if the phone is in your hand. Nothing in any of these images suggests distracted driving. Quite the opposite actually. Maybe the lady with the phone in the cup holder was watching something like youtube or facetime.

I find your take interesting.

In New York operating a phone while holding it is illegal. Operating a phone in a mount is considered hands free and legal, though if you’re driving distracted or recklessly a phone holder isn’t an excuse.

I consider a properly mounted, wired into the truck, charging phone to be safe and convenient.

What's the point of all these phone holder ? Anything that the phone should be used whole driving can be done with voice/android auto. I find these kind of setup way too distracting , especially the one on the a pillar.

its crazy how people drive , but dam , they never look in front of them, always distracted , facebooking or something. It's not because your phone is handsfree that it means it can't distract you anymore.

you assume everyone has android auto/voice commands? Anways....I dont think anyone here needs 3 mounts the guy was simply showing mounting options. How about we get back on topic here instead of complaining. Thanks again to original creator of this post for the idea of installing 12v up in that cubby!!

I just realized I can put one on the top bolt of the Jesus handle and two more on the passenger side.

GAME ON

In all seriousness, I have a good mount in every car, even my ‘99 plow truck. Contradicting the Canadian belief, I believe it’s a safety item to have one.

Heres the pro clip in my Volvo I referenced being the best.

It's not my take....it's the police's.
Distracted driving now kills more people than drunk driving in most Canadian province's. So the police are cracking down. If you were stopped and had a set up like that i would think if you were lucky they might let you away with a warning....once.
But if legal there then enjoy!!

So... in conclusion cellphone mounts are not only legal, they are often required. They do not excuse distracted driving.

Back to our regularly scheduled topic.

Great work on the 2 cig lighters! I’m glad this thread was helpful to some. Look forward to seeing what you go with for a mount.

Going with the builtright industries mount and then bought a wireless charger on amazon that's pretty awesome.

Once I get a trailer backup cam I'll mount it up there too.
Question though, where do you run your negative? I found a hole down by the fuse panel that I ran a bolt through- should work. Just waiting on the mount and add a fuse to finish this up. I'll post In here when it's all wrapped up.

Great ideas and execution guys!

My phone stays in my pocket when I drive, so unfortunately (or fortunately?) I don't need to add mounts and power ports. New gadgets are always fun!

Ditto on ProClip! My Son turned me on to ProClip about 5 years ago and I put one in my 2015 F-350 and my 2013 Fusion for my phone and loved them. When I bought my new 2019 F-450, all I had to do was buy a new dash mount a take the cradle out of the F-350!!! It's still rock solid after 5 years - no signs of wear!

This is a wireless charger with a lightning cable hanging below going back to the center console for when I want to use CarPlay. For anyone interested in CarPlay all the time I’d highly recommend the Proclip phone holder. If you want to plug in to CarPlay every time their phone holder can’t be beat. The built right bracket and this ram mount I’m showing are better than the Proclip mount, but their holder can’t be beat.

And in case anyone was wondering about the other location....

i ended up mounting mine in the exact same spot with the same charger about 2 weeks before seeing this thread lol

Great minds think alike!

I tried sending you a private message but it said that you have exceeded your stored messages so you might want to clear some of those up I'm wondering if you could provide the part number for the stand that the ram mounts are mounted to and the ram mounts you used with that wireless charger as I have the same one. I've gone through the thread a couple times and I haven't seen any part numbers so if I missed it I apologize. Thanks
