It took 25 days to arrive. The adapter is small and powers up nicely. Setup is a little strange but easy enough. After connecting the phone to the adapter via Bluetooth you then scan the QR code to open safari to the address of the adapter. Safari will then send the latest update to the adapter and once that completes CarPlay will work correctly.
if you don’t do the update your radio will only show connecting and the screen will never go further.
looking to install USB ports along with builtright mount in top center dash, questions is do i just extend the USB ports that are in the front of the center counsel under the sliding door? or can i add new ones? I use android auto and need to be plugged in.
I agree 100%,👎 Your in that seat to drive, let the passengers play with the toys.
Aren’t there some kids on your lawn you need to go yell at? The purpose of a cellphone mount is not to create a distraction. In many places they are required by law to take calls.

Thanks for any help
you will need to use the ports from the center compartment. My approach to this with my mount on the left was to remove the ports, reattach them behind the console, run a usb cable from there, and put a small plastic cover out of the now empty hole.

so is it possible to just leave 1 of the 2 ports in center compartment and disconnect the other 1 and extend wire to new added port up top center dash? or leave both (so no need to plug hole) and purchase 2 new and extend wire from center compartment to top center of dash?

The 2 USB ports are in a single module that follows a pigtail back to the APIM. The Sync system does not support USB hubs, so as far as I can tell (or anyone else I’ve seen comment on the forum) you are stuck with the MAX 2 usb ports.
Since the 2 USB ports are on a single module, you’d have to get creative with some USB extensions to extend them.
You’d be looking at two of these, and making an infill plate for the hole left behind when you remove the bigger module.
I'll do a write up when I get around to doing it, but till then I was thinking of installing a wireless charging pad under the center console sliding cover or under the armrest. I purchased a couple wireless pads to take apart and it's not much more than a thin copper coil less than 1mm thick. With some silicon or possibly tape, you could install one nearly anywhere that is flat.

Seems like I've seen them for sale online as just the coil and plug. They are for projects like you suggest.
