Hmm, must work for the City of McMinnville. When I worked for Mac I really didn't realize that I had had one long continuous headache....until I transferred to Douglas County and Roseburg and the headache went away.
HAHA - Yes! It's mostly one part of my area of responsibility which in the last couple of years has some how worked it's way into being my ONLY area of responsibility now. It so happens it might be the place where airplanes come and go...

Weyerhaeuser has put gates up on BLM roads. BLM road number and logo right by the gate. It turns out in the one case, the BLM sold some land or swapped some land or whatever...a 400 yard strip of land in the deal included the road and apparently it was inclusive with no right of way or retention of Federal owner ship. You get to drive 12 miles to get around this 400 yard strip. A large part of upper Gopher Valley and West Peavine where it drops over to Willamina Creek is now all "No Trespassing..". When I went to the web site and then called, they were not letting out leases. Not that I would have applied for a lease, I was just curious as to how much they were charging. In short, they have closed off most of the mountains up there. Gopher Tie, Elk Flats Roads and many others are getting closed off, not only to vehicles, but to walking, hiking, horse back riding as well.
Hancock has closed off Slick Rock so to go 1/4 mile, you have to drive 20 miles, if they haven't closed the gates off of Bear Creek at Horner Ranch or Gravel Creek. That road up there used to be USFS and BLM and is surrounded by USFS and BLM. The roads still carry BLM and USFS road numbers. A large chunk of BLM and some USFS on Saddle Bag and surrounding mountains are closed off and for all intents and purposes are inaccessible. There is a large grove of Old Growth trees up there. Every tree in the stand has an OSU study marker on it.
I've hunted, fished and ridden horses on these lands since I was old enough for dad to drag me along so it is a particular irritant to me.
Rant Concluded...
Rant away!!! Your rant has answered several questions I had about roads gated in my immediate area. (I live off Peavine Rd.) I too have frequented those places for many years. You've just saved me a bunch of time and fuel as I now don't have to head "up the hill" now and I'll go and stay north of Meadow Lake/Nestucca River Road. Sad really but such is life in today's world.
As far as the lease goes I've heard some of the more popular places can be in the $100's of dollar to get access. If you get caught behind the signs, you could get fined and they will record your vehicle description and license plate. One guy here in the office had that happen to his boy.
With all of the people and access being limited it's only a matter of time until I let that hobby go....
Good evening Oregon and Visiting Ford Fans'.
Stopped on the way home and had the tires on the old Ford rotated. Checked tire prices while I was waiting and i have no idea what I'm going to do when I need new tires.
Good evening Oregon and everyone everywhere else. Made it home a little wet and muddy, but after all it is western Oregon. And...…..guess who left his rain paints at home.

White Road and I believe Baker Creek is open. (I'd have to double check BCR with Lonnie, but I think he said the gate by his place is open), So you can head up the Mountain and get to Walker Flats and Meadow Lake via those routes. Slide Mountain is closed, or was the last time I went by as was Wanless and Green Top.
The land Weyerhaeuser is leasing in our immediate vicinity, (if you can call it that) is in the Black Rock Area. (W. of Falls City, East of Valsetz and South of K Junction (Dorn Peak & Laurel Mtn. Radar Station area). $75.00 a year for walk in privilege. $250.00 a year for drive in privilege. https://www.weyerhaeuser.com/applica...s_3-1-2018.pdf
We had 46 this year. I think they had a Halloween Party at the High School which probably cut the numbers down. Plus, it's not like we live in a mega town...
Good morning Oregon and everyone everywhere else. 55, no rain and heading out the door. Remembered my rain pants today. Not supposed to rain until later (?) but the brush will certainly be wet.
Chris - Discount tires is the place I'd look. Might be a bit of a drive for you though. I've had good luck there and prices are reasonable (well reasonable by today's standards). I've also had luck on CL depending on what I was looking for.
